Silurus, now that you posted up that link, that is them. Sheesh, why do some catfish have to look like one thing or another? But yup. Didn't even look at the Brachysynodontis genus listings. In the invoice, all it showed was just Synodontis. Thanks!

Synodontis batesi

Does anyone have any knowledge in keeping these synos? I think we got some at work from Poseidon, but they are labeled as Synodontis batendosi or something like weird like that. I don't know if it is the same and the distributor has wrong species labeling on them (who doesn't? haha) but they do look...

Albino BN not Eating

K, everytime I try to feed foods specifically for my albino bn, all my other other fish (mainly african cichlids) get to it before he does. So to compensate for this, I drop the food in two places. However, the pleco is still not eating it. I've tried zucc, green beans, and lima beans, but it still ...

L177 - Yellow Seam Pleco or Gold Nugget?

Ok, just to make sure I am not going crazy. At our store, we have L177 labelled as a Yellow Seam Pleco. I check on here, but it says that L177 is a Gold Nugget. I know that there are different types of Gold Nuggets out there. Can someone please point out to the untrained eye the types of gold nugget...

I understand certain rivers in the Phillipines already have problems with introduced exotic species, Hypostomus and Tilapia are two common names mentioned. Just a joke, even though invading species that could wipe out the natural species of a habitat is a serious matter, but here it goes. Being a F...

Ok, nevermind. I found it on the Cat-eLog and the catfish labeled as such from the distributors we got it from in Florida is called an Oil Catfish ( Centromochlus perugiae ). I was wondering, can anyone please tell me any information on these catfishes? What does it eat? What should its water parame...

"Tatia Novia Catfish"

Hi there again. Troi here with another question on ID. I just want to know if anyone has ever heard of a catfish with the name "Tatia Novia Catfish"? I don't have any pix at the moment. I will have a pic posted by Wednesday after Easter Sunday. But for now, I just want to know if anyone ha...

fmueller,

What you can try to do is blanching the stems. Boil some water first, then drop the stems in for a few minutes, take out, and put into ice water which should stop the stems from being further cooked. Just your typical cooking know-how.

Hi! First youll have to find out if something in your tank hardens the water. But do the testing first. Then you/well see what can be done. KH and pH are also interesting to know. And never use test sticks as they cannot reach drop-tests in accuracy. Also, drop tests can't reach the accuracy of tab...

Hi! Several factors enter in the growth of a fish: * tank size *water quality *Water Temperature *crowdedness or not *food quantity and quality Negliect one of these and you will reduce the growth rate of your fish... Cheers Yann Even with the tank size as a factor, just keep up with the other fact...

I always thought that zucchini was a squash. I'll have to try that too, the brocolli stems. What about asparagus stems (the harder part like you would for brocolli stems)? Has anyone tried that before? Also, I have tried frozen green beans for my juvenille bushynose plecos, they love it. Althought w...

Pleco Suitability

Hi there. I just have a question. Does anyone know of any other suggestions of plecos that could go with Tanganyikan Cichlids aside from Bushy Nose Plecos, which are getting fed Sinking Wafers, Algea Wafers, occasional treat of Frozen Green Beans (haven't done zucchini yet). I am looking for plecos ...

Hi there. Troi here. I work at a local fish store in Las Vegas and we received in one of our shipments a small fancy pleco. At the moment, it is almost 2" long or so. It was not the pleco that we ordered, but something totally different. Can anyone please help me in identifying it? Sorry for th...

Lichen on Lace Rock

For a Tangayikan tank that I am starting, I will be using albino bushynose plecos. However, on the lace rock, there is lichen growing. I was told by my LFS that the lichen is bad for them, where as experienced Tangayikan keepers that have plecos in with their tanks with lace rock told me that it was...
