Both and are quite variable, and not the easiest to tell apart. The main difference is that the latter is a bit more contrasting in the pattern.

I bought this butterfly pleco this afternoon.I think it's an L052 but somebody told me it's an L168.I'm not sure.

I think whiptail plecos of Pseudohemiodon are good choices.They prefer bloodworm and prawns than algae.
