Help: Diagnosis wanted, pls

Hi, Though this worm infestation has not yet apparently affected the catfish which are tank mates with this cardinal, I'm worrying they already may be infected but still without visible evidence. The cardinal is doing remarkable well so far. There are a couple other cardinals which may be affected w...

Re: Good Fish Shops, L-breeders, resellers in Copenhagen,Den

The stocklist of www.neonfisken.dk is updated daily. I know that they've received a new sending now in quarantine, but they've told me that the new sending will be available for sale start of December. BTW: Catfish is "maller", corys "pansermaller" and loris "sugemaller"...

Hi,
Try http://www.neonfisken.dk, they have a lot of cats.
Otherwise, http://www.cichlidecentret.biz/ provides OUTSTANDING service, advice etc., and you can't get fish or "hardware" cheaper around here.

Re: Ancistrus caught behind background!

if the topside of the backpanel is open; you might want to close that off. ancistrus do crawl out of the water on moist surfaces, especially rocky surfaces with algae growth on them I've seen them grazing out of the water with ease  they just went up and the fact that they were leaving the w...

Re: Bristlenose but what type?

I'd also like to hear if you guys concur on, that these are all Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus . They were all sold as Ancistrus spp , or Common Ancistrus . The two WT dark ones are about 2.5 inches, and the albino juveniles are about 1.5 inches. Originally I was told common Ancistrus meant Ancistrus dolic...

Re: Tips and Tricks

I don't know if everybody does this, but I was given the advice to keep the salinity (for a fresh-water tropical tank) at 0.05%, i.e. technically at the lower limit of brackish water and upper limit of freshwater. Among the reasons for doing this is to reduce the likelihood of various forms of dise...

Re: User control panel?

Hans, Another thing just came to mind, why would you want to store what articles you want for reference? Is it difficult, do you think, to find them again? Jools Jools, I think there's tons of invaluable information within this site. Some of the information of particular interest to me, have I foun...

User control panel?

Hello, I'd like to commend you guys for an outstanding site! I think it would be a good idea, if the user control panel is accessible from the entire website and not just the forum section. Also, I think it would be helpful if you were able to save e.g. particular articles of interest in shane's wor...

Husbandry notes not viewable

Hi,
It looks like the husbandry notes are not published - I can't see any notes regarding other members tanks and species listings, and I can't see mine either, except when I click the "Edit" button for each species in the "view aquaria" section?

Re: Ancistrus caught behind background!

The little Houdini is back! :o Either he has dug an under-gravel (and "under-background"!) passageway or he has made an incredible jump over and across the background again. Both of the possibilities seems highly unlikely to me. Can't figure out how he did it, but the important thing is he...

Re: Supplemental Light For Fish Photography

Hi Mats! Hmmm... very interesting there, and THANK YOU for that idea. I certainly did not think of using a camera flash unit. But since it's a strobe-type light, how do you "trigger" it, to get the light at the moment you need it? Do you have an "extension cable" for that purpos...

Re: Tips and Tricks

What a great thread  not really a tip or a trick but a question - anyone used aquarium pc software? I didn't see anyone else responding to this. I use a piece of freeware "aqualog": http://www.joejaworski.com/aqualog/ where you can see who to credit as well. Works great, I think....

Re: snails

I agree with the people praising the assasin or killer snail ( Anetome helena ). They eradicated my snail infestation, and they are easy to remove when there are too many because of their size and slow reproduction rate. And they are quite pretty too (IMO). Furthermore, they also act as a "bott...

Re: Ancistrus caught behind background!

Hi, Thanks for your thoughts on how to solve the problem. There's room enough for him to do OK for a while, but not room enough to get to him with a net - also, since the background is 3D there's unfortunately plenty of "caves" at the bottom I have no chance to get to, so I don't think the...

Ancistrus caught behind background!

Hi, I have an BTN amazonas background in my tank. Somehow my male ancistrus ca. 2.5 inches long has been caught behind it - I don't know how, there's no passage between the front and back except for the hole for water to be able to circulate through the filter etc., and there's a net in front of it....

Re: Loricariidae suitable with Discus?

Larry, - Good idea, I'll do that. Actually, I was planning of also installing a background (being able to clean behind that, too) since I was planning to convert the bare bottom grow-out tank (i.e. with background, wood, potted plants) to the final planted display tank when the discus were ready. Th...

Hi Mats, - Good advice (re:dealer). However, I have complete confidence in my dealer, he's a discus aficionado, so I'm confident the fish were all right when they left the store. Loricariidae suitable with Discus?

Hello, I'm planning to establish 530 l tank almost as a Discus species tank, i.e. ca. 29 C, fairly soft and acidic. I'd like very much to add two different pairs of interesting/beautiful (which is quite subjective, of course  ) Loricariidae (e.g. panaques etc.). The size of those in the ballpa...
