Re: Does anyone know if this is true?

it happened repeatedly with my C elegans and some wild silver angels-- it appeared to me that the angels were not at all upset by the grooming. They stayed in place and splayed their fins.

Re: Does anyone know if this is true?

I have seen cories clean angel fish-- or going through those motions anyway. Specifically C elegans literally going over both sides of angel fish with their barbels. I have not seen this with any others and I have two dozen species or so of cories, including five that are with angel fish.

Re: How to get Farlowellas in the mood ;)

My farlowella eggs were eaten by some dastardly fish. Dad kept all the tetras away before so it may be some young L-340 in the tank or a small L-75. All the other fish were the same occupants before when the farlowella eggs hatched in that tank. That's life in the hobby!

Re: How to get Farlowellas in the mood ;)

the advice given to me was to put the fry in their own small tank with a lot of hornwort or similar plant, scatter your food of choice throughout the tank and change the water 90% every day-- the key is to put the food right in their face -- I will try with spirulina powder

Re: How to get Farlowellas in the mood ;)

Twiglets! Copyright that! My farlowella's laid eggs yesterday so will be using advice gleaned at the Catfish Convention. Mine had spawned before but the fry need to graze continually in order to survive.

Re: what was the highlight of CatCon for you?

I think Barbie and TTA have a good idea. The speaker lineup is incredible and I hope it stays that way, but I think the Convention could be improved by adding a series of other talks, and/or round-table discussions. I went to the National Aquarium on Thursday and spent most of the day Friday looking...

Re: what was the highlight of CatCon for you?

This was my fourth CatCon and most of what I do is to eavesdrop on any conversation I can to listen to all these experts talk about what they do and how they do it. They are always very generous with their time to answer questions. The speakers, as expected were excellent. These folks are THE subjec...

Re: Just a hobby or a field of study?

I am a hobbyist but just a piker compared to many here.

My advice as a recent retiree, do what you love to do. You have a long life ahead of you. Go for the sheepskin and follow your heart. It may take you away from catfish but whatever you do, you will be doing what you love.

Moving some fish out

I have decided to part with two groups of fish to make room for more hypancistrus and peckoltia. First is a nice group of 4 healthy adult, wild L-204. One male that never leaves his cave and three female me thinks. Group two is a nice group of 4, wild L-200, H subviridis. 2 M and 2 F Asking $175 per...

I bought some fish from Jamie about a month ago. His fish are big and healthy and the prices are very reasonable.

Two thumbs up!

donate to PC

I just noticed my last donation to PlanetCatfish was in January and there have only been a handful since then.

Folks, this is an incredible resource and I am sure many of you use it as often as I do.

Make a donation, if for nothing else, a thank you to the guys for a great website.

PM

I tried to send a couple PM's -- they are now in the 'outbox' and not in the 'sent' folder. Did I do something wrong? I did not see an option to send from the outbox but in outbox, it says the messages were sent.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Is this L-202 ?

I purchased a group of four of these as L-202 and a friend whose opinion I respect suggested they were something else.

Any thoughts??

It looks like she is gravid so the mood has been set, me thinks. Mine spawned in a corner of a community tank directly in the flow of the canister filter.

Re: small rocks in play sand harmful?

IMO the sand with a little gravel is fine and not a problem. I do think your sand is too deep. For cories to keep it clean, I think the experts recommend no more than 1/2 an inch
