You're also right about it being a hybrid. Husbandry should be similar to that of most other riverine synos.

Found it: Andrea Krauss and Christa Neumeyer, Wavelength dependence of the optomotor response in zebrafish (Danio rerio), Vision Research, Volume 43, Issue 11, May 2003, Pages 1275-1284. The action spectrum of motion detection in zebrafish (Danio rerio) was measured using the optomotor response in t...

benetton, If your fish is either of these species (which it probably is), you will have a lot of trouble housing them down the road. Arius require salt and grow large, as Crysichtys has pointed out, and Pangasius grow even larger. You may want to consider returning these fish, since theyy are not fi...

Yes, catfish eyes are insensitive to red light, just like many other (all?) fish. However, I wouldn't recommend switching from normal wavelength light bulbs to red light during the day, as this could throw your fishes' night and day cycle off (they would feel like it was dark 24/7). What you can do ...

Phyllonemus
Robert Schelly, Roger Bills and John Lundberg have just returned from a collecting expedition to Lake Tanganyika. I took a look at a couple of their field photos, and was amazed to see Phyllonemus spp. over 20 cm long. There are apparently several undescribed species in the lake, with Paul Skelton a...

I'd stay away from the Nandus if I were you. They get pretty big, and are quite nasty. Not sure about how nasty bichirs (BTW, they get big! I have seen a presered E. calabaricus in the yard long range, and quite fat to boot) are, but if they assert themselves at all the S. decorus will suffer. The a...

It's really an assumption on my part that it was a cave spawn. I think it was one because there were other fish in the tank at the time of the spawn besides the multis, and if it had been on the substrate every last one of them would probably have been eaten. It may have been on the substrate and a ...
