OK I have this 5 gallon AGA Acrylic bowfront completely cycled w/ extra fine sand substrate, African Root Wood, A few Java Ferns and a Cocunut w/ Java Moss tied to it sitting fishless in my bedroom. I've been trying to figure out what catfish I could possibly keep and breed in this small of tank. Cu...

Enough w/ Common names, this is Pseudacanthicus Leopardus. What would you lke to know about them? They've been bred, but this is very difficult to manage as they are very aggressive (for a Loricarid) once they reach maturity. Mine prefers meatier foods to veggies and will readily gorge himself on al...

They should be touching the cucumber. pl*cos find them irresistable like the zucchini. Pardon, it had eaten the middle part (where the seeds were) but thats about it :? I think I have a picky pl*co. I've found many won't take to Cucumbers immediately, what I've done that works best is to quarter th...

At stores or from breeders? Last time I bought some I got 4 Albino's for $10 from a breeder. At LFS up here, they range from 6 to 20 depending upon size. You're in Texas...OK, I figured you were in Europe  Look up your local fish club and give an officer or two a call and and tell them what yo...

BK- Turnover will be at least 10x's an hour probably closer to 15x's. I'll also do at least weekly water changes w/ R/O. As far as what you go with and why, it's up to you but if breeding is your ultimate goal I'd try some Ancistrus 1st. You're in central WI?, but if you ever make it towards Milwauk...

Well that's quite a broad spectrum of plecos you're looking at. So the size and aggression should definitely be taken into account when looking into a breeding setup. If this is your first breeding, I'd say drop L114 from your list as these are not a good pleco to start w/ as they can be highly aggr...

Gail seeing how you're brand new to this I thought I'd let you know that one of the best clubs in the country is right at your door step. The Ohio Cichlid Association is a very large and well established club. While cichlid is in the name they also do cater to Scavengers (Catfish like your hoover). ...

I realize I'm a little late on this, but Mike D. has asked me to add to this, as much of this came about due to a need to centralize what myself and others recomended as starting points for general loricariid purchasing, acclimating and husbandry. I also saw a recent post about deworming and strongl...

Graeme, They sell locally for about US $5.00 to $6.00 each although you might pay up to $7.00 for a large one (over six inches). I picked up two last weekend (around five inches each) because they had a strange color pattern with very large white dots extending onto the caudal fin. I paid around US...

Opinions/Suggestions on Breeding Lamontichthys Filamentosus
As some of you already know last summer I recieved half a shipment of L. Filamentosus w/ the other half going to another club member, who unfortunatly lost all his by the 2nd month. Well with the shape they came in from Peru (Very aenemic) and they're disapproval of nearly every food offered, I've w...

I agree w/ Ben, if you truly want to keep them I'd try adding a piece of driftwood with small holes much like African root (Swahala?) preferably an aged piece w/ some algae growth. Normally LFS will sell you pieces out of their tanks so it is possible to buy aged wood if you don't have extra in anot...

I think It'd be a great idea, but Washington DC has me a bit concerned as I'd prefer not to go there. But I do understand it's central local for those on the coast. Don't suppose anything further west could be in order to help out all of us in the Midwest :?: I suppose Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, I...
