Thanks and in that case even better as they sell for between £7 - £10 each so free is great. Good old Pets at Home, good sometimes :)

Can anyone help id :)

Hi, Been a while since I posted as all but got rid of all my tanks due to ill health. However I have managed to get a 2.5ft tank with hood (no working light) for £10 and have added a spare filter and heater I had .. so bargain :) Anyway, whilst at my pets at home looking for some fish I was pointed ...

Re: Syno's health, concern?

Richard - Yeah I can see what you mean about them scraping against each other and hence I am not overly worried as such. Just wanted to check whether it's something I should consider treating tbh. seedfut - Not sure about the level of flow in the tank as such .. I have an external Fluval 205 filter ...

Syno's health, concern?

Hi guys Just wanted to run this by you all regarding my Syno Multi / Grandiops. Took a video today while doing my daily maintenance, if you look right at the beginning of the video and then at the end (I zoom in on him) he has what looks like a "bald" spot on his head, from naked eye it se...

Re: Redesigned 30G tank

At the time I took that photo, that tank contained yellow labs, red and blue zebras, S. lucipinnis, and a few old Tropheus moorii (ikola). The blue fish are the cobalt blue form of plain old Pseudotropheus zebra (or whatever the genus name is these days)... probably from a breeder in Florida. Many ...

Re: Redesigned 30G tank

Thanks Mats & Richard Something for me to look into a bit more. I do have these 2 new rocks that I need to add to the tank. I may go down the lava rock route to give the tank a aesthetic change.

Re: Redesigned 30G tank

Thanks Richard ... I can get lava rock, but not sure about tufa. TBH I have never actually heard of tufa rock??

I do prefer the lock of natural rocks, lava rock seems to have lots of very sharp edges.

Scleropages - Cheers

I think your right about the 29G thing :) Appreciate the photo, gives me some ideas of what to aim for. Not sure I can see any Syno on that pic lol.

Are they yellow labs in the pic? Also what are the blue ones to the right of the central rock pile?

Many thanks again mate.

Re: Redesigned 30G tank

Scleropages Thanks for the reply. I have moved the Rams into the 65G tank, they have settled and seem very happy in there tbh. Have added the 2 extra rocks, it's only a work in progress. You mention for 30G long, not sure this tank could be described as that. Yes it's a 30G but it's more standard ta...

Re: Redesigned 30G tank

I seem to have missed that reply, sorry. Re the rocks, I guess your right, and I will be looking at adding some more very soon. I will also be looking at removing the rams before too long. Would they work well in my Amazonian Bio tank (once the gourami is moved from there) along with my tetra's and ...

Re: What is the best catfish for me?

Joe, nothing in my inbox here, did you pm me? As for places to go, I find Baytree Garden Centre quite good but it's in Spalding so not sure if a bit too far for you. Another good one (but a bit of a journey) is Ferrybridge aquatics in Knottingly, West Yorks. Alternatively I have had lots of great st...

Redesigned 30G tank

Hi, Just wanted some input on my 30G redesigned Syno Multi / Grandiops tank I took out a awful Barrel ornament and a dying plant (that I got to too late) Replaced it with 2 Anuabis plants attached to the Sumatran wood and a rock formation that hides the air stone. The tank does have 3 Rams in it, bu...

Re: What is the best catfish for me?

Joe I notice your located in Lincolnshire, as am I .. where abouts? Maybe I can suggest a LFS to visit for certain species :) A BN would be fine in your tank, but there are many other plecs suitable for 25 - 30G tanks. Equally if your close to me and want a BN plec, I might be able to help you out f...

Hey Grokefish I think it has all been due to the changes they have faced recently. you can tell me "told you so" lots, I don't mind :(( ;) Am observing the water quality every other day atm, I have moved them into the 30G on their own which also seems to have helped! I intend to keep them ...

Re: Liosamadora Oncinus - Urgent advice required

An update - Just to let you guys know, I have now changed (since Friday) 60% of the water, the temp I managed to drop to 24-25C On early hours Sat. Within an hour of that happening 2 of the Jaguars started doing what they have always done, swim around my hand when food was added :) Not by any means ...

Re: Liosamadora Oncinus - Urgent advice required

Thanks Marc, I have done 25% wc today so 25% of salt has been diluted, temp down from 30C to 28C (doing it over 2 days as 30C to 25-26C seems a bit too much). What I wanted to point out, as can be seen in this video taken tonight that maybe of use to other Jaguar Catfish owners in the future, since ...

Re: Liosamadora Oncinus - Urgent advice required

Wrasse, I fully understand your reply and thank you for it :) Temperature, strong oxygenation and salt are 3 good weapons for treating and also your spot treatment apparently did some good, it helped the plec. Right .. hmmm This is all getting a bit confusing now lol. Viktor - I know what your saying here as I am not really sure why I now have salt in the tank. Re: Liosamadora Oncinus - Urgent advice required

Grokefish thanks for you reply :) I just need to figure out when to start diluting the salt out of the tank and to put the temp back down. Had it running at 30C and with salt 2 days now .. no improvement at all really, so will try and give it the week I think wrasse mentioned. Anyhow, many thanks :)

Re: Liosamadora Oncinus - Urgent advice required

Indeed Viktor and mine up until about 6 days ago would eat until I stopped feeding and regularly resembled ping pong balls with fins. Since the 3 day med this has ceased. Though I will say 2 of them did show some eating behaviour last night and the food certainly did vanish after a while. Whether it...

Thanks wrasse Did not continue treatment as the med stated 3 days only. As for cross contamination .. I though...
