Re: Sex the L046
I'd agree, 3 Males (1,3,5) and 2 females. They need some love and good food though before any breeding attempts as the females especially need conditioning as they aren't very robust in the abdomen.
Good luck with them

Good luck with them

Re: Sex the L046
Almost impossible from that picture....... its not in focus and not close enough to the fish? do you have more pictures? Its very hard to tell by just body shape from that distance as they could either be females or well fed males They both have characteristics of both sexes but at a guess i would s...

Yeah i suppose i didn't choose the easiest fish to try and sex :d but it would be boring if i did it the easy way. i've only had them for a few week so im sure i'll get used to them and get better at sexing them soon. I've kept L046 for about 10yrs on and off and im pretty good at sexing them now :d...

Haha well spotted Mats, one too many zero's on there :ymblushing: , your right it is of course a food tub and is 100mm x 160mm. Fish 11 (female) is 100mm SL and two of my original males are around the 90mm SL size so may put them together and see how they get on. The rest average out at around the 6...

Re: Sexing Challenge L134's ......photo heavy
Thanks for your thoughts MatsP I've added the sizes of the fish to the pictures, i know my hands look huge in some of the pictures but some of the fish are actually a good mature size. Also, the tub they were pictured in is 100mm x 1600mm. My thoughts are Fish 1-5 = All Male Fish 6 = possible female...

Hi Everyone I have just purchased 5 Plecos described to me as L134 (P.Compta) from a local guy i know. I have no reason to question or doubt him. However the plecs have massive variations in their colour patterns which is making me wonder. I have set them up in a breeding set up and don't want to wa...

So the virus is just dormant until the fish immune system is low (through stress) at which point the virus can take hold...... but is self resolving as the fish's immune system fights back??? i hope this is the case, i'm panicked slightly by the plecs age (about 6/7) but he does seem otherwise in go...
