Hello all
I have a pair of L124. Both mature, a male of +20 cm, the female slightly smaller.
Kept them since feb, 2009.
About a month ago I settled them into a 600 L tank. After a week of acclimatising the male started his new active behaviour.
Swimming around easy, but also sometimes slightly ...

Re: How to solve ichthyophthirius multifiliis in L-numbers
Personally I always treat Ich with UV-C and raising the Temperature. Why UV-C? Ich has in its cycle a stadium of free swimming. In this stadium they infect the fishes and only in this stadium medical treatment is possible. Sadly it's only during some few hours.

Hi Viktor
Yes - you're right there. Do you know the exactly Spot where they are collected in Peru?
Well, you probably have to get them again
They are such nice fish, I think. But probably often "misunderstood"...

Zebra only tanks work well - and tanks with a lot of companion works very well too.
Never lost a zebra due to companion or because of starving.
Bred them for 9 years by now.
Sometimes (or in my opinion mostly) - it even works better with companion - making the zebras feeling more secure and safe ...

Hi Viktor
Thanks a lot.
There is then hope and light for the project b-)
I was wondering.. most vids are showing rather non-current tanks. I had expected more current would be right for pictus.
Also I would give more warm temperature (http://www.weather-and-climate.com/average-monthly-Rainfall ...

Character of pimelodus pictus
Hello all of you
I'm considering to buy this beautiful fellow - actually a nice group of them. But I always had the same concern. Their reputation for beeing hyper active.
Tank should be roomy enough with 230 cm length and a total of 575 litres. Not overstocked. No small fish.

Re: "Neglected" zebras
Hi
I think, it's a rather boring way to keep these beautifull fish. For you, I mean.
I gave mine a huge tank, some company from Parotocinclus sp. "recife", Corydoras and tetras. They have all the usual stuff, and plants, light etc.
A nice tank for me and a nice tank for them. Light isn't a problem ...

Turnover of appx 20 per hour isn't nessesary. Perhaps its even of disadvantage.
Food is smashed around. And covering all hardscape.
With less turnover the zebras have a better chance to eat and clean up.
I bred a lot of them - it really isn't nessesary. Oxygene is important - not the turnover.

Hi Amy
If you go eat a nice dinner, what are you going to pay for this?
So the seller once said to me. I ended up buying two Zebra plecos. Clever guy.
Carrying them home as precious diamonds.
I've never regret it.
If you really badly want this pleco - go for it.

Hi
What's the turnover of the tank per hour?
Increasing the turnover clean up the hardscaping a lot.
Secondly.. removing most of the wood helps a lot. They don't really need it anyway.
I run several zebra tanks, and came to following suitable (besides tetras) companionship: Corydoras sterbais and ...

Hello fellow schwiitzer :D
I use/used the 160 Liters setup for a long time.
A group of 15 adult zebras would be maximum and requires good discipline as to waterchanges.
I prefer more and more to socialize the zebras with other fishes. They are a lot less shy and thrive better.

And the roots are looking good and very naturally too.

Need help for english terms
Hello everybody
I hope you can help me with this one:
what is the correct term for fry of wildcaught parents?
Do you call it F1?
Some claims that F1 is just a term of non-relative parent - which not necessarily have to be wildcaught.
thx in advance.
Best regards
