Eric, Thank you. That was an iPhone picture and as you are aware they are not super photogenic. They do seem to take off when I go near the tank and as clients pass by it all day they are not out too often. I will try for a better upload, but this gives me something to go by and I hate to mis ...
I received several of this small "Pleco" into my shop and was unsure of the correct identification.
They came in as Red Zebra. Look something like L288, however the facial patterns are different.
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Don
Hi All,
Here is another neat Whiptail Catfish that came into the shop with a generic name.
Would anyone care to take a stab at Identification for me?
Thank you so much for the assistance!
Don
I can attest to the confusion of common names; It happens to fish shops as well as to clients. I operate a small freshwater Tropical Fish Shop in Kennewick, WA. Recently, I ordered what I thought were 2 Zebra Pleco's,The price seemed outstanding and I thought it would be a great way to pass along ...
Rob, I do agree that Cory's are mainly Carnivores; however I have seen my Cory's eating from zucchini that I have placed in the tanks for the Ancistrus. I believe that if they didn't eat any vegetable matter,then they wouldn't touch the zucchini. I have seen mine eat from the slices several times ...
Valb68, They will put them into the tightest spot that they get get them into. If the male left the cave to eat, then most likely there are no eggs. But, considering what I saw on the video they will spawn together again-soon The female may have found his cave unsuitable. She will spend some time in ...
Hi Gina, Are you still looking for C.weitzmani? :-\ The closest supplier out west (Close to us both) that currently has a good supply of tank raised 1.25" C. weitzmani is the Wetspot, in Portland, OR Here is a link: http://www.wetspottropicalfish.com/index.php/fish Anthony Perry is a good guy and ...
Hi, CoryfanAad; The issue you are speaking about from my reading is much more prevalent in the aquaculture industry with cold water fingerlings and I believe that a parasite called Myxobolus cerebralis is considered to be the cause. Kanamycin is used as a treatment. However, a few of the livebearer ...
Rob, Interesting you mention C. Eques, both Valb68 (my friend from Spokane, Wa) :d & I went together and bought a group of 10 C. eques from Mark Chen, (Discus Origins) we are super excited about these fish they & look Fantastic! (*) Mark took good care of us, I can recommend him on Aqua-bid :d ...
Hi Rob, Hope all is well in your fishroom, how are the Corydoras sp. Black doing? :d Here is a thread from this discussion where Ian gives a great identification lesson on the Gold Laser/Orange Stripe Corydoras. http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=37130 (*) Here is the Thread ...
Your C. paleatus would like to have a at least 4 or more to feel comfortable. So my recommendation would be to buy a few more peppered cory's and maybe also buy 4 of the so called Corydoras agassizii; http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=309 Keep in ...
Supercorygirl,
Kim is correct;
After checking Ian's supplement book, there they are!
I have never seen them and I just paid $40.00 each for C. Eques
so I guess $30.00 each is fair for an even rarer fish...LOL!
Good luck with them.
Don
Hi Supercorygirl, :d I agree that name "Milegros Cory" is a trade name for C. Fowleri, your fish are not Fowleri. have a look at http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/image.php?species=corydoras_sp%28c091%29&image_id=2358 Species CO91. This may be a possibility. $29.99 each is a bit steep. Don
All, Along with Valb68 I also wanted to say Thank you; When Snyo321 (Paul) visited my fish room in early July we also had a discussion on this topic; so it has been troubling me for some time and I think that the resolution is to discontinue feeding the blood worms all together. There are enough ...
Hi apisotmaster; I do not know if fish can be allergic to an item; and that was not my insinuation. b-) I was wondering if anyone else had experienced strange issues/effects after feeding Sally's brand of frozen blood worms as I and aparently Valb68 have observed in our Corydoras. I Goggled and ...
Hi Viktor, I wasn't sure if I would be alright on PC to use brand names. But.. I have been feeding the SF (Sally's) brand of Frozen Blood worms and after a discussion with my friend and fellow PC member Valb68, I found out she is using the same brand, although she buys the cubes and I buy the flat ...
Hi Rob, (*) Yes, I think that Valb68 and I have both seen allergic reaction's to bloodworms in our fish. I have read elsewhere that switching brands has stopped the flicking and rapid breathing. This issue seems to effect Guppies, Rainbows and other fishes as well. Brand "A" seems to be the brand ...
<Bump> No one have anything to add on these bloodworm questions?
I feed frozen bloodworms a few times a week, I thoroughly rinse them under running hot water until completely thawed and many times I mix frozen brine with the bloodworms and feed my corydoras this mix. However, as Valb68 noted I have ...
To fall into a pile of confusion; this is my opinion;
Corydoras C. Venezuelanus "Black" I do not believe is the same fish as what many here are calling Corydoras sp. Schultzi "Black". I prefer to not use the moniker "Schultzi" as it references a Corydoras "aeneus" subspecies. My Black Corydoras ...
Hi wwicks;
I keep 8 adult Cory's in each of my 20H breeding tanks. (24" Long) My assumption is that your group of Catfish would receive regular water changes and care. As long as they have swimming space in the front area of the tank I would think your group would do nicely.

I live about 2 hours drive away from the store; Have done a lot of walk-in and mail order business with them. Have also sold them a lot of my extra Corys. They have nice fish and are knowledgeable and honest. I generally look for Travis when I'm in the store - he will go far above and beyond to ...
Hi JamesFish, I use trumpet snails in my egg boxes, but they can get out of hand when I dump the fry into tanks, so I use Assassin snails in my fry tanks and have never had any issues. I have never seen it but, If they were eating a Cory fry, it died and missed being sucked out in a water change. :d ...
