Message Outbox

If I have two messages in my outbox, does it mean they're sitting there because the recipients haven't read them? Or they're sitting there because for some reason they haven't been sent? D.

Thanks. I saw them on aquabid, and I don't want them badly enough to overpay by that much. 🤣

LF L134 Peckoltia compta

I'm located in Winnipeg, Canada. Looking for a group of Peckoltia compta. Hopefully from someone in Canada that can ship to me, or if in the US, you could ship to the border in North Dakota and I'll drive down and get them. PM me if you've got, and are willing to sell. Regards, David

Corydoras aeneus. 1998. I bought them as small fish and they grew to an enormous size and spawned all the time. (my other "first fish" were tiger barbs and bala sharks) =))

Re: Artificial Algae-Covered Rocks

In my experience ancistrus will eat pretty much anything I throw in the tank. The purpose of trying this is to get fish that ignore sinking pellets to eat. I think it's worth the small inconvenience. *shrugs* David

90 minutes since I dropped in the test piece. two different types of ancistrus, snails, and crystal red shrimp are all eating it. I can see places where they're rasped it away, but for the most part it's holding up really well being submerged in water(not quickly dissolving) David

Re: Artificial Algae-Covered Rocks

The oven worked really nicely. I can't even scratch it off with my finger nail-like cement. I assume that will change after I submerge them in the tank water-but probably slow enough that they will be attracted to the 'algae" and eat it..testing one of them now..David

Re: Artificial Algae-Covered Rocks

About halfway through I upped the temp to 200 F and the paste seems to be baked on to the consistency of cement at about the 80 minutes mark...I'm going to leave them for another 10-20 minutes, and then shut off the oven and let them bake a little more on residual heat and slowly cool down..David p....

Artificial Algae-Covered Rocks

I read several months ago on the site here about making artificial "feeding rocks" for hard to feed pleco fry. Obviously not a concern with most types of ancistrus, but I've been concerned about my latest spawn of chaetostoma fry eating enough. How it works is you mix pure spirulina powder...

Re: Chaetostoma sp. 1

Update/Observations: As of today I have an accurate count of18 fry with no apparent losses since they finished hatching almost a week ago. I believe I lost several of the eggs/fry to the predation of the shrimp in the tank before I noticed and created a "buffer zone" around the breeder bas...

Re: Chaetostoma sp. 1

I didn't have any luck with the last spawn. The male ate most if not all of the eggs before, or as they were hatching. I recently got another spawn and decided to try something different. A couple days after the spawn I stole the eggs to raise seperately. All the eggs "eyed up" and all app...

Re: Ripsaw Cats Feeding

I've been changing 50-75% of the water every second day-that's probably overkill. Once I move them to the 350 I'll test the water regularly to figure out where I need to be with the water changes. My future plan was to approach the local zoo about taking them before they outgrow the 350 gallon tank-...

They're approx 16 inches and 18 inches..They're currently in a 6ft 100 gallon tank for a couple weeks so I can keep an eye on them, and make sure they're healthy and eating. I will soon be moving them to a 4ft by 8 ft 350 gallon tank. David

I got these on Friday. A friend of mine has had them for a while and just couldn't keep them anymore. When I spawned them several years ago, the eggs went all over the place and I had to hatch them in a breeder net. I agree with you that if they're in a nice clump and the male is attentive, he will likely continue to care for them. David

Starting to see fry(with yolksac) on the glass today.I've turned off the powerheads in the tank: I think they might've been getting sucked into them and perishing. Hopefully I get them to survive in some numbers this time..David
