I've got my DIY Fluidized Bed Filter up and running.
It's quite cheap to make one (I've made mine of a PlexiGlas tube with 10cm diameter), and nice to look at (it's like the sand has been liquidized).
Since I got no replies I guess there are not a lot of FBF users out there, hence I'll let you know ...

When visiting a local fish shop (Belgium), following species was found on sale as Phractocephalus Spec..
Evidently (owning 2 South-American RTC myself) this is by far not a Phractocephalus. The Shop owner could be of no assistance, and put the name he received from the fish provider.
