Yes driftwood helps lower PH but not significantly if your looking to lower it by a lot.

Just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. I have been keeping tanks for 20 years. Most of my tanks are planted with shrimp now. I also have my own site and sell driftwood. I only have a few plecos right now and they just surprised me with a handful of babies
