Well, unfortunately it's too late. I should have taken my Chinese Algae Eater out of the tank asap. I woke up this morning and my Boesmani Rainbow that I've had for about 7 months now had a big bite taken out of it's back, and hiw fins were chewed up. He is obviously dead now. :(

So, having more plants will keep the gravel cleaner in a way? How?

Planted tank and gravel problems
I have a new 50 gallon tank, I bought it off a friend. The gravel is a hefty 3 to 3 1/2 inches think. I know this can be unhealthy for the fish, as food can get caught in there and rot, causing water problems. I would love to remove a bunch of gravel and get it down to about 1/2 an inch or even ...

Corydoras julii or trilineatus?
Not sure which one I have. I'm pretty sure it's a trilineatus, but it seems that all websites have different info and mixed pictures of the two species.
Also, if you can determine a sex I'd appreciate it too. :)
