Re: Nannoptopoma sp. PERU(1) spawning

No, I never did get the fry to live for very long even with all the different offerings of food. Sadly, my group of adults is not around anymore. Hans Evers gave me some advice as to raising the fry, "These Nannoptopoma are not the easiest ones, indeed! I would try with stones and sticks from a ...

Re: Nannoptopoma sp. PERU(1) spawning

Thanks guys. I am feeding many foods but the fry are not eating my offerings for any length of time. They have not lived past a couple of weeks so far. Every spawn is split into small groups of a few individuals each for food testing. Some groups are setup in feeding rings with the fine mesh bottom ...

Re: Hypoptopoma sp. PERU(1) spawning

This one is 14 days old and still in the main tank. I had tried to feed about six of them artificially in a separate container but they would not eat my offerings which surprised me as I was offering rotifers and algae covered leaves. Still might not be the right size and I will have to adjust next ...

Re: Pseudohemiodon apithanos health issues

Here is some great info from Charles Mueller. He mentions using some medication to get rid of bacterial infections which maybe very helpful to you.

Re: Hypoptopoma sp. PERU(1) spawning

Not great ones right now but I will work on getting some good pictures of the adults to post and for your use. You are most welcome to use the fry picture too.

Re: Hypoptopoma sp. PERU(1) spawning

Thanks Eric, this one kind of surprised me since it happened so soon after setting the group up in their own tank.

Nannoptopoma sp. PERU(1) spawning

I was able to see two of my Hypotopoma sp. PERU(1) IMG_7229 Hypoptopoma fry.JPG spawning on the back wall of the aquarium. The young parents laid three rather large eggs about one quarter inch apart on the aquarium wall. The eggs hatched in four to five days and the larva moved from the egg site but ...

Re: Corydoras loretoensis

Hello homerno1,

I am the person Narwhal72 is referring to. They had spawned a few times for me when I had them. Please follow the link as it has info about some of the spawnings that I had happen with this group. They are nice corys and I still have a small group of young ones that I am growing up ...

Re: Corydora Loretoensis

The larval fish seemed to be average sized. I used a Marina box to house them for the first couple of weeks. Then they went into a 20 gallon high tank. After their yoke sac was used up, I started them on decapped brine shrimp eggs and microworms. Next I fed them baby brine shrimp and decapped brine ...

Re: Corydora Loretoensis

C. loretoensis is definitely a very nice cory. The dorsal on some of my males is quite tall and even curves slightly. My group has spawned a couple of times. I lowered the water level to half a tank over a period of time and then added cool water back up to the normal water level. Nothing drastic ...

Re: Please help to ID this pleco

I have been able to do more investigation on my unknown pleco. Most of the responders here thought that I had some sort of peckoltia which steered me in the right direction and I thank you all. It seems that dentition is the most realiable way to ID different types of plecos. That is what threw me ...

Re: Please help to ID this pleco

Richard B,

The two peckoltia types that I have experience with are actually great wood eaters. Not quite to the extent that my L204's consume wood but never the less very noticable and all are very healthy. That is L38 where both adults and their young both went through the wood. The other is the ...

Re: Please help to ID this pleco

Hope this picture helps. As I understand it, longer teeth in the back are characteristic of some sort of Hypancistrus. That and the lack of interest in wood seem to point to something other than Peckoltia. Thank you for your comments.

Please help to ID this pleco

Please take a look and see if you recognize these plecos. I have noticed that they seem to have no use for wood, either hiding in or eating it. They also eat only cucumber and algae waffers. One of my five didn't make it and so I was able to look closely at the teeth. The back teeth are longer than ...
