Re: Filter transplantation
Are you sure the Filter rubber is missing or just dried out? I had a similar problem recently when I went to get some older HOB filters I had put in storage! The o-rings that seal the magnetic pump to the housing had dried out and would not seal. I just took them off stretched them a little applied ...

Re: Ancistrus sp. Albino X Albino Equals what?
I found "Xanthism" in the glossary (I forgot it was there) but not used as you are using it. Now my next question, are you calling a leucistic BN considered to be as one of the albino genes or are there (3) genes in BN' that cause lack of pigmentation regardless of the eye color or only tw...

In you reference post, viewtopic.php?f=5&t=41052 you mentioned xanthoristic variant , I tried looking it up under Wikipedia and there was no such word, What doe sit mean? Well, in this case even that won´t help, because there appear to be no real L144 available anymore (there might be one or two...

I have (3) Leucistic BN's and all three have blue eyes. I have never heard of a Black eyed Leucistic BN until just now in this post! Although I never heard of Two Albino Genes in any other species either, are you sure there is such a thing?

Is there a way to designate Variety in Catfish?
Is there a way to designate Variety in Catfish? For instance there are so many varieties of Ancistrus sp. cirrhosis , but to the best of my knowledge no way to designate color, finage etc. Shouldn't there be some scientific taxonomic terminology to designate variety(?)in Catfish or for that matter i...

Re: Ancistrus sp. Albino X Albino Equals what?
Just to clarify things I was talking about breeding a true Albino w/ Pink Eyes to another true Albino w/ Pink Eyes, they produced half brown and half albino off spring. They are small right now about 1/2" so I can't see eye color on the young fry, and the browns are a beige shade not dark like ...

My " Hoplosternum littorale " Spawned the other day! The male created a nest out of plants I had placed into the tank. We had a cold snap and I didn't have a heater in the tank yet to the water dropped several degrees. Here is a picture of the first nest he built. https://ronsaquatics.file...

Re: Ancistrus sp. Albino X Albino Equals what?
The original pair that I bred are albinos with pink (red) eyes! They bred together by accident and are throughing some albinos and some browns, about 50/50 ratio! If you saw a solid black BN pleco you would say that the Common BN's are Brown not "Blacks"! I have a solid Black Pleco that I ...

Re: Ancistrus sp. Albino X Albino Equals what?
I found the Post from MatP Eh, that's not what Mats is saying, but I can see your confusion. He's saying that there are multiple different "types" of normal red-eye albinism, even ignoring the blue-eye types. Albinism is defined as the lack or or defective production of melanin, which is r...

Identify these Cory's
I had these two Cory's in a batch of C. aggazi's. When I bought them I was told they were C. blochi but don't look anything like them. They almost look like C. trileatus, but are 1/3 again the size and have a elongated head, not the shortened head of C. trileatus. I picked out C. gomezi, C. leopardu...
