Re: Petricola Loss
They are a fair size, all between 4 and 5 inches with the biggest of the group being a female who is maybe just over 5 inches. There have been positive signs, in the future i guess i could make space to try the three tank method, or maybe just try removing the best pair from the group into their own ...

Re: Petricola Loss
Yeah i have 10 (was 11!) the one that was lost certainly seemed to be at the bottom of the pecking order. Still trying everything i can think of to get them spawning, had some success with Lucipinnis but no dice with the Petricola yet. Not sure what to try next.

Re: Petricola Loss
All other fish doing fine, must have been due to aggression. Cheers for the help Richard.

Re: Petricola Loss
Thanks Richard, it's a mark i've seen before some time back on one of my original two fish, and he seemed fine and it healed nicely. This guy was a little smaller than the others and certainly seemed to be at the bottom of the pecking order. No new fish have been added recently.

Petricola Loss
Hi, just after some advice, at the weekend i noticed one of my wild Petricola had a light grey patch (circle) on its side/back and it was staying towards the top of the tank. After a few hours i moved him into a hospital tank but he didn't last the night. At first i thought it was down to aggression ...

Perfect Petricola Set-up
Sorry, me again. I'm upgrading my Petricola tank to a 180 litre.
I have a group of 8 w/c adults, i am attempting to breed them, if it happens great, if not i don't mind, i just love keeping these fish.
Anyway, before i rush into transferring them into their new home i want to make sure i set it up ...

Breeding Petricola
I know this isn't easy, i'm by no means an expert but it's something i would like to have a chance of, or aim to achieve in the future.
I know of the three tank method, but i'm just after any advice you can offer to put me in with a shot of getting these to breed. I have a group of 6 adults, in ...

Re: Petricola Pickle
Hi Richard, thanks for the reply. They are eating ok now and seem happy in their new tank, do you think it is large enough long term for 6 adult Petricola?
I do have bigger tanks available, but if this tank is OK i'd like to keep them as they are.
Cheers.

Petricola Pickle
Hi, i have 6 w/c Syno Petricola. They have been happily living in my 5ft 450L tank with my Mbuna for a while, i was thinking of moving them into their own tank. A few days ago i was catching holding mbuna and on impulse decided to transfer my 6 petricola to a newly set up (fully cycled etc) tank ...

Sudden increased Petricola activity
Hi, I have six adult Petricolas, they have been relatively shy up until today. Now there seems to be always at least two or three actively swimming around the tank, at all levels. Four of them I've only had a few weeks, so maybe just settling in? But this seems very sudden, like someone's flicked a ...

Re: Petricola tank size
Yeah i was thinking the 2 footer would be too small, so best to swap the Brichardi into the 2 footer? Am i right in thinking that a breeding colony of Brichardi will attack Petricola as they would any other fish?

Petricola tank size
Hi, i currently have six adult Petricola in my 450 Litre Mbuna set up. To be honest the Petricola started off as just an afterthought addition to the tank. Initially i bought two 'dwarf petricola' that were in fact lucipinnis. I have since sourced six genuine adult W/C Petricola but now i am wanting ...

Re: Third Syno ID! Petricola or Lucipinnis?
Sorry yes i mean the cichlid, Neolamprologus brichardi. I am interested in breeding the Brichardi, and in the fullness of time possibly the Lucipinnis (another tank set up for that in time) but i'll be buying juveniles so some way off that yet.
I know the Brichardi can be very aggressive when ...

Re: Third Syno ID! Petricola or Lucipinnis?
Thanks for your help.
So i have two Lucipinnis now, and four hybrids (and a confirmed source for buying more Lucipinnis) i'll be moving the hybrids on. Currently they are in a 100 gallon Malawi tank. I'm picking up a second tank tomorrow, 55 gallon and am planning to keep it to just Brichardi and ...

Third Syno ID! Petricola or Lucipinnis?
Hi again, sorry last one i promise! :))
These were bought as Synodontis Petricola, and labelled as such but also labelled with common name 'Dwarf Petricola'
I know these little fellas are not hybrids, just unsure if they are indeed true Petricola or Lucipinnis.
I appreciate the help, apologies ...
