those dont grow very large at all. 4" is around max size, are you sure the dampsey wont kill it?

Re: Fat Bristlenose Pleco
ok he was not getting any better - only worse. I moved him to a spare 20 gallon as a last resort. added some epsom salt (7 teaspoons for 15 gallons). provided lots of water flow, heat to 82F (maybe i will raise it). Also added Tetra Parasite Guard to clear out w/e he might have. I will keep him ther...

Re: Which pleco should I get?
BN plecos will grow to that length in maybe 2 years or more.
i have no idea about snowball plecos. they sound rare and very expensive. they grow to similar size as BN plecos.
a male BN pleco is easily identifiable by the multitude of whiskers on its face and snout.

Re: Albino Adonis pleco
from the cat-e-log on here looks like albino gibbiceps also lose their spots. Adonis look to be the same based on the photos in the link above. if you want a 5-6" fish that's albino and has yellow spots or is gold in color with yellow spots, try the Bristlenose pleco. you will not be disappoint...

Re: Which pleco should I get?
well a male BN pleco might get close to 6" in length. and if you provide enough hiding spots, he will be able to handle the cichlid i believe.

Re: Which pleco should I get?
if you do get them, make sure to get them from a breeder of course. there are lots of people selling juveniles on aquabid and similar sites.
Clown plecos or BNs are good choices if you want to try breeding. i never kept clown plecos so idk how easy they are to keep/breed, sorry.
Bristlenose FTW.

Re: Advice for blackwater tank
but aquariums do need SOME KH and GH in order to survive. where are your minerals coming from? they have to come from somewhere. maybe food? stuff like calcium and magnesium? even if KH is say 0 or close to 0 in a good blackwater tank, there should still be around 1-2 or 3 dGH in there for red-ox pr...

Re: Advice for blackwater tank
Yea I love using dried leaves in my tank. I normally use Indian Almond leaves since i have a bunch of them from when I used to breed bettas (Yes bettas do breed in hard alkaline water with the help of leaves to lower the pH slightly and remind them of their natural water conditions they have evolved...

Re: how to breed L333
i think no light might be best. aren't they all nocturnal? I mean don't cover the tank with something dark, just use ambient sunlight in the room to supply them the light cues of day and night. unless you have live plants in there -then do around 6-8 hours of tank light for the plants.

Re: Albino Adonis pleco
Looks like they do become all white/gold when older. if you want a yellow/gold pleco with yellow spots try a BN pleco. they have gold color and their spots are yellow. really nice looking fish. but don't get the white albinos then, those show a lot less color.

Re: Which pleco should I get?
My large angelfish was not able to eat newly hatched BN pleco fry. So i just assumed they were too spiny. those pectoral fins are probably the hardest part of the fry. And there are at least 3-4 species of gold nuggets. range from 7" to more than 10" according to the cat-e-log on here. i'd...

Re: Which pleco should I get?
I think it may be possible with just one gold nugget and no other plecos. just make sure you do your water changes, provide lots of places to hide for the pleco. your tank would be very slightly overstocked with the gold nugget, but i think you can manage if you keep up water quality. also make sure...

Re: Which pleco should I get?
BN plecos are generally an awesome choice. get a couple of reds or green dragons, get them a cave or two and you should be able to raise them and breed them well. you would have to separate the fry once they hatch though if the male doesn't guard them. fry are spiny so maybe the cichlids and other c...

yeah my tank has subdued lighting, and has two filters running for decent aeration and water turnover. I found peas instead of prunes so i will feed them one or two peas a day to see if that cleans him out.

Re: Advice for blackwater tank
RO isn't that necessary. but if you want to be a diehard perfectionist and keep sensitive blackwater fish then yes it would be good to limit KH and GH to recreate as natural an environment for them as possible. most fish are hardy enough to live and maybe breed in harder tap waters. I sort of consid...

His next question: Is hybridization of pleco catfish bad or just not recommended? Since they are all Scobiancistrus, they can hybridize in nature too, or is it not possible in the wild because of different habitats for each species? Or should man not interfere with natural processes like this - ther...

if you want smaller fish, try flame dwarf gouramies and harlequin rasboras.
otherwise a pearl gourami would look good as centerpiece. with some sort of schooling fish like harlequins. a lot of barbs are also from Asia i think.

that is a lot of fish if that tank pictured is 20 gals. i thought it was bigger. i agree with above posters, although the plants in there do look very nice right now. leaves are a great way to help water conditions match. i would use different color/shape rocks though if you can find any good ones. ...

wow that is a river tank. i wouldnt be surprised if many of the plecos we keep live naturally in such an environment - even small guys. it takes a few collection videos to see where plecos live. i'd love to make a tank like that someday :) Though i do not quite understand how they made it. it's on a...

Cmon guys, help this guy out with your advice!
He is asking:
If L014, L048, and L133 are all in one tank, and they grow to adulthood, is there a possibility of of hybridization of these species? Or do I only have to worry about L048 hybridizing with L133 ?
