Definitely! I clean the tank weekly and do frequent water changes. I have Apple Snails in with him and they are messy, so it gets cleaned more than the average tank. That's cool, that they can live that long! I am very fond of my Pleco, so I don't want to lose him. I just wondered why he's not as ...

Should I be adding it now, with the new juvenile Shark Catfish? I thought I would just start doing it, with the water changes, so it would be used to it. Currently, the tank has some salt in it, as I added it right before the second orginal large Shark Catfish died. I believe I added two tablespoons ...

I didn't realize the Shark Catfish were difficult to keep. This tank was neglected and abused and yet, the five fish were thriving. Pest snails had taken it over and they let the filter get plugged and it was barely running. They got fed every couple of days - fish flakes and that was about it. I ...

Thank you. I really want to treat them right. Will four small ones be okay, with the Pictus Catfish (and a Kuli Loach)? It's a deep 20 gallon tank. I was hoping to get three more. The new little "Shark" is pretty active and works the glass up and down. Since I don't know that much about them, is ...

The Pictus cats were in with the original large "Black Finned Sharks" for several years and still seem to be okay. The previous owners were adding table salt. I guess they developed a tolerance for it, or the levels weren't high enough to bother them. At what point, do I have to really increase the ...

Pictus Catfish & Aquarium Salt Compatibility?
I have two Pictus Catfish and recently added a "Black Finned Shark?" to the mix. I am going to get a couple more, when the store gets them in (says they do best in schools of three, or more). I talked about them in another post. From what I have read and been told, the Sharks need salt in the tank ...

Lazy Pleco, Sickly or Just Well-Fed?
I have a 12" Common Plecostomus in my tank, with large Apple Snails and some Cory Cats. I just put in some Angel Fish, too (other post in Speakeasy). I have noticed my big Pleco just pretty much stays in one spot. He seems rather healthy, but doesn't slurk on the glass the way he used to. I feed ...

Plecos & Angel Fish Compatibility Question
I have a 12" common Plecostomus. He is housed in a large tank, with large Apple Snails and some small Cory Cats. I recently purchased three small Angel Fish. I put them in with the Pleco and others. Do they get along okay? Is there anything I should look out for in having them together? I'd never ...

Shark Catfish Question
I rescued a tank from someone who was moving a few weeks ago. There were two Shark Catfish in the tank, about 6 & 7 inches long. They were really cool. They were doing well, then they died. I talked to the previous owner, who called them Columbian Sharks and said they needed salt in the tank ...
