L075s - making love or war?

Hi guys, I have seven L075s in a 7ft tank. This morning I found the two largest ones (maybe 7-8"?) 'dancing' with each other in mid-water and doing a bit of chasing each other around. I'd never seen this behaviour before, and it's still going on with the lights on. They sometimes appear to 'nib...

Re: From NORTE ENERGIA SA: Cultivo de acari zebra-

Seems like the officials in question are trying to say, "Since we might be decimating the natural habitats of valuable ornamental fish species, we should learn how to breed them." It's very much a guide for captive breeding of zebra plecos.

Re: Corydoras Sterbia with light patches on its head.

I've seen these in my C Sterbai a couple of times. It looks fungal as in due course the discoloured patches on their foreheads become 'tufty'. My corys recovered without any treatment other than keeping the tank clean, but more recently a similar thing appeared on the left flank of my juvenile L014 ...

Re: Male of female corydoras sterbai

Erm... I am not sure what you mean by you separated them? If you mean you remove other species from their tank, that's probably wise if you want fry. My discus have eaten up nearly all the Sterbai eggs. If you mean you separated some of the sterbai from the group, that seems like a terrible idea.

Re: Male of female corydoras sterbai

Females are larger and fatter. I have seen mine breed, and this rule has always held, at least in my tank.

Re: Sterbai Sexing

BBetta, I think the only way to work out the gender is to see the group together so the relative sizes are apparent. Assuming they're all mature, the females should be larger and fatter relative to the males. The difference isn't enormous but it certainly is visible.

Re: Have you got experience with L075s?

They're in a 7ft, 184 US gallon tank, and there are plenty of caves. Oh well... maybe it's just a phase.

Have you got experience with L075s?

Hi guys, I've got two L075s about 10 days ago which I hope are a male and female (but really can't tell at all). They are about 5" long and seem to have settled in well in the tank. The one thing I'm slightly worried about is that the slightly larger one is chasing the slightly smaller one, who...

Re: Can I have a jaguar catfish

Or... and that has just occurred to me. Keep one (or a pair) Green Terror gold saum and one SA catfish? Green terrors are beautiful, aggressive fish with a lot of personality. They also grow big - I saw one at my LFS that was about 12", a whopper of a fish, and so amazingly colourful - it made ...

Re: Can I have a jaguar catfish

There seems to be some confusion about the meaning of "community tank". A community tank will be a mix of species will no regard to geographical origin; it's the typical tank the vast majority of aquarists have, and involves low skill. That is what each of your proposed mixes amounts to: a...

Re: Can I have a jaguar catfish

Firemouths shouldn't really be kept alone, and it is not a great idea (as you've already been told) to mix CA and SA cichlids. You are interested in SA catfish and your heart is set on a Severum; why not make your tank a more harmonious mix of SA-only species? Instead of the poor single Firemouth, y...
