Re: L260 gender?

I go by the pectoral spine odontodes. I see at least one (possibly 2) male and one female L260. However, your photos are taken from too far away, and in the yellow-green lighting, for me to get a clear view

Re: Catfish Cataclysm 2021 - The Ultimate Catfish Experience

As far as this the fish came in Friday midday and we unbagged them and got the in the tanks. I could have opted to rebag them Friday evening, but decided I wanted them to have as much time as possible before we rebagged them to let them destress. Looking forward to putting together 2023 already. I ...

Re: Catfish Cataclysm 2021 - The Ultimate Catfish Experience

Eric, would you say having the tanks in the same room detracted from the talks? What about when we were rebagging the fish on Saturday morning? Hi Randy, No, most of the time, having the tanks in the same room was not a distraction. During some talks, I did notice a few members of the audience woul...

It's a short snout fish. Corydoras(ln9) atropersonatus. I caught the same fish in the Nanay.

IDK. I have the H. guahiborum and they look similar. But your fish looks a little flatter. I'm nor sure.

Good luck,

Hi Orangeberry, Sorry to hear of your bad experience. Difficult to know what to say, considering that the fish appear to have been in miserable health when purchased. You're lucky if the guppy is unaffected. Quarantine is important for just this situation. The U shape you describe sounds like starva...

Re: L244 Sexing: Now with a spawn and fry

This is great. Glad to see more spawns of Pseudolithoxus (on my list, for sure). Sorry to learn though that you're cutting back on the hobby.

Re: Catfish Cataclysm 2021 - The Ultimate Catfish Experience

The Catfish were wonderful. Highlight for me was a group of 6 Brachyrhamdia thayeria. I didn't win that bid, but I tried. Also wanted Akysis prashadi, but didn't get them either.

What did you miss?!? The talks! I gave the second best talk I've ever given! :)) :)) :))

Happening this weekend! Yesterday featured talks by Jeremy Basch and Stephen Tanner. Today, another presentation by Jeremy, one by Rob McLure, one by Ted Judy, and two by yours truly.

If you're here please stop and say hi. If you're not, why not?

Cheers,

Ornamental fishes of the Peruvian Amazon

As usual, in a work of this scale, there are obvious misidentifications when comparing the photos shown to the species described, but still worthwhile as a resource. García-Dávila, C.; Estivals, G.; Mejia, J.; Flores, M.; Angulo, C.; Sánchez, H.; Nolorbe, C.; Chuquipiondo, C.; Castro-Ruiz, D.; Garcí...

Lol, it was a Hypostomus with Geophagus. The cichlids spawned constantly.

Re: Pleco Identification

Add after your edit, fish in the underside photos in store are of different individuals. The wider mouthed one looked more female to me while the other certainly had more bristle coverage classic with a young male. But one does have spots, the one I brought home does not. I will get a belly/mouth v...
