A rare sighting of three of the four adults at the front of the tank (female on lower left). They think they're hiding.

Here's a photo of the only fish in the tank I know for sure is female (the photo in the OP is of the largest fish, I suspect a male):

Re: Amblydoras nauticus spawned
Adding a sloppy false floor on the front 1/3 of the tank under the spawning mop and potted plant: Two layers of ceiling light egg crate, one placed atop the other, and the bottom layer has a fine mesh net tied to it.
Let's see if this improves egg recovery on the next spawn.

Thanks Jools and Shane!
Three have hatched this morning and I see one additional egg unhatched. Don't know what happened to the other two.
The hatchlings are tiny! They remind me of cory hatchlings.

Babies doing great!.
I find it weird that dad repeatedly leaves his eggs. I don't know if any other species that does this regularly.

Re: Amblydoras nauticus spawned
Found a sixth egg today. It seems to have been laid yesterday, as it has an obvious embryo on it, although I don't know if it's alive. It lacks its jelly coat.
The other eggs are still going, and I can see tiny embryos growing on them too.

Hi Manoah,
Yes, it is common to catch two or three species of cory in the same stream or pond at the same time.

Awesome hope the eggs are fertil I saw the blog report update, wow. That's a pretty cool one! Jools Thanks to both of you! I think I need to set up an egg catcher for these. They are obviously egg scatterers, and the female was really fat, so I'm sure she laid more eggs than these five. I pushed th...

Amblydoras nauticus spawned
Hi All, Back in November 2022 ( this post ), I imported 4 Amblydoras nauticus from a creek off the Rio Nanay outside of Iquitos, Peru. Today I discovered four ... correction, five... fresh eggs! 20230328_102927_exported_31883.jpg 20230328_101434~2.jpg 20230328_103922~2.jpg 20230328_104037~2....

This is from a 1980s paper. It does not put the two species close together. But considering its age, I don't know if this is still correct.

Was that second spawn actually two spawns at once? The mystery may be solved! Dad's already on eggs for two days, and another female is back in his bamboo laying MORE eggs! 20230325_165556_exported_24071.jpg Cheers, Eric Rineloricaria lanceolata: One male. One bamboo pipe. Re: Rio Itaya black Rineloricaria lanceolata spawned
Hi Jeanne, so far, I've pulled out only 3 or 4 dead from the first spawn. I imagine a few more have have died, but I haven't seen more dead bodies from that box and I still have at least 100 of the one-month old babies. So survival rate is over 90% at this time.

Re: Rio Itaya black Rineloricaria lanceolata spawned
This morning, after I fed the babies from the first two sets of babies, I was rethinking the weird dynamic of the second spawn: The first eggs started hatching on day 12 of incubation, a day later than the first spawn (that in itself is no big deal). However,... By day 17 of incubation, there were a...
