Error message when updating kept species requiring an edit
Hi Jools, I responded to an automated email today asking me to update my species. For all the species that required "no change," the actions went smoothly. But one species I no longer keep, so I had to submit a date for when the "stop keeping" occurred. When I typed in the stop k...

Re: Help with L52 Butterfly Pleco
D. picta lives in biotopes with a pH around 4. Your water simply doesn't seem to match their needs and instead of getting a third one I'd look for something in the P. vittata complex or maybe a Panaqolus species, they are good looking too and pretty similar in pattern. The oxygen level might be a p...

Re: Amblydoras nauticus spawned
This morning I collected the eggs that were laid over the weekend. It turns out there were two spawns, one which must have been laid Friday night (some of those eggs are already hatching) and another spawn that was probably laid Monday night or Tuesday night. In total, I collected over 550 eggs and ...

Re: Ram tankmates for L134
Hi @Hutchy1998. Welcome to PlanetCatfish! Peckoltia compta (L134) is a lovely fish. I keep mine in neutral pH water or slightly acidic (pH 5-7.5) at 83F and a TDS of about 100-150ppm (not by choice, but I don't buy RO water for home). I have never kept rams, so I can't comment on their suitability a...

Re: Amblydoras nauticus spawned
Another spawn in the last 24 hours, 9 or 10 days since the last spawn. :-) Babies from the previous spawns are growing well, but I'm noticing that some of the younger fry are dying in the tank. IDK if it's a water quality issue from overfeeding (1x or 2x per day with live microworms and pulversized ...

Hi @Hwardale, I see your post shows you're in central California. I'm in Stockton, just a stone's throw away. Do you attend any of the three fish clubs in our area? There's the SFAS in the San Francisco area, the PCCA near San Jose, and the SAS in Folsom. All are good clubs. I attend the SAS on a re...

Re: Setup for Pseudomystus heokhuii?
I finished a round of API General Cure. Today, as per the instructions, I gutted the tank to clean out any worms that might have been released. I then hit the fish with a round of Expel-P and Paracleanse. I didn't see any fish with worms but one male has a red inflamed anus. Fingers crossed that the...

Indeed true. "Contaminant" is another word used in this context, and a better fit than "bycatch" since the fish wouldn't have been caught together.

Re: ID please? By catch with glass catfish
Okay. That was my other thought, but from the few pictures we have I thought it might be too robust.
I need to look up the different species in scientific papers to get more info on them. I know almost nothing about this group
Thanks HH.

Re: ID please? By catch with glass catfish
It's a Pareutropius of some kind. Thanks. That was my idea too. It's so long and slender I was thinking not Pareutropius buffei and not Pareutropius debauwi , although there is a faint lower stripe like debauwi has. I was also looking at Pareutropius longifilis , but I don't know. The store has onl...

Re: Microglanis lucenai new species from the Rio Mampituba basin, Brazil and Microglanis cibelae is revalidated
Question to my taxonomist friends:
With this paper published, does the revalidation of Microglanis cibelae become official? Or do additional steps need to occur before the revalidation is legitimate?
Thanks in advance,
Eric
