Re: White masses on body of albino channel cat

They appear to be digenetic trematode. They occur in fish raised outdoors in ponds. Here in Florida fish farmers call them bird worms. It is part of the life cycle of the trematode and really has no effective cure. I think you might be able to kill the trematode with prazi but the cyst would then be...

Re: synodontis petricola

Petricolas do not 'hold' the eggs, they are egg scatter's. Most people use a clay pot over a glass dish with smooth marbles or gravel in the dish to catch the eggs. The fish will spawn in the cave and the eggs will be deposited in the marbles away from the adults which will try to eat them. You can ...

Re: My Public Aquarium: exhibit blues - how to make them?

Sorry to hear about your set back. It is tough to consider all the possibilities until some of them happen.

That is a huge amount of weight to try to hold together. What other options are you looking at for a sump?

Re: Royal Farlowela

I do have access to it and plan on getting some repashy. I am raising more bushy nose and probably will start buying that in bulk. A buddy of mine used it when raising africans and noticed a significant difference in the health of his fry, not a huge growth difference but keeping them healthy and al...

Re: Hoplo catfish?

If you bought that as a hoplo thats a great deal. It looks like a syno decorus to me but the spots are off a little. May just be an abnormality but once it settles down you may get a better pic.

Re: My Public Aquarium: exhibit blues - how to make them?

What a massive build. Looks like it is moving along. A few opinions and thoughts; Shade cloth, in my experience raising fish outside in greenhouses i find the Florida summer heat is brutal. I have a mix of 30% & 50% shade and feel that is not enough. Some of my vats in the greenhouse kept near 8...

Good to hear. I have refocused my efforts over the past two years and am making significant progress. The kids are a little older now so there is a little more time for the business.

Re: Royal Farlowela

Before 6 weeks we feed some live brine, spirulina powder, and Zeilger AP Larval Diet 100. The AP larval was designed for shrimp but we use it for small fry. We feed the spirulina to the brine before feeding it out. After that we use some algae disks and otohime. Once they are 2"+ they get purin...

Re: Royal Farlowela

They have been breeding very well this year since we moved them to a different system. They are being kept at 80-82F (hot summer), ph 6.8, 130-150uS. They are being kept with clown loaches and seem to get along fine. They spawn on stand pipes and other pvc pipes laying on the bottom. The parents are...

Royal Farlowela

Here are some pics of what we bought as Sturisoma aureum over 10 years ago. We have been breeding this fish over the past ten years with some success. We have double our efforts on this fish over the past 2 years to make more progress with raising the fry. As most of you know this fish is easy to sp...
