I need to get me a dropper! It seems that allot of hobbyists use that like you said to control how much and where the food goes. Re: the light the cats are way too skittish.... even with the room light or the acetinic light on they bail into the caves... but if i turn all of the lights off... poof t...

One more thing... I could see where it could get time consuming filling orders.. but all you would really need to do is get the supplier, get some pre orders, and only use Paypal. Once done... just fill the orders as they come on in and ship them off!! Tack on the various shipping charges and voila....

mmmmm..... No I have not..... I guess the peat would make the water a bit more acidic and drop the ph down... Well I do have 5 chambers in the wet/dry so I could easily add it. Now where would I find peat?? re: the mid water fish you mentioned, I will have to look up the rasporas.... I am sort of lo...

Cool! Thanks for the feed back. I will probably get 3 skunks and 3 adolfos? later on. I am really starting to get into cories. No wonder they are so popular. They are very very cool. I may also get 2 large pearl gouramis to have something swimming in the mid-upper tank. BTW filtration consists of th...

Well I am down to 1 hoplo left. I can't find the 2nd surviving guy so I am assuming the worst. The last guy has some missing scales around his head... don't know why.... Anyways the good news is that the fish guy I got them from is sending me 6 more free of charge. This time I will ensure that evert...

Powerhead question
Well... I am sorta stuck yet again. I currently have a 100 gallon simplicty plus tenecor tank, which has a built in wet/dry filter with bio balls. It uses a Rio 400 to pull the water thru the system and returns it back to the tank. Currently it is stocked with the following: 2 Pim Bocchis 7 Danios (...

Thanks for all of your advise. I have 2 hoplos left. One seems to be doing quite well. The other seems to be frantically swimming to the top of the tank and free fall back to the bottom where he lays on his side. If touched he will do the exact same thing (needless to say I only touched him once...)...

Man that is just wrong. But like anything, if there is a market out there people will go to all kinds of lengths to make cold hard cash! Like it has been said before, the only way to stop abuses such as this is to take away the market. I noticed that on this forum there are several respected members...

Hoplo Tragedy
Well I just got my 6 Hoplos which had been shipped to me. So far 3 have died and the other 3 are 50-50. I am somewhat traumitized. I put them into my established 25 gallon tank with has 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and is a balmy 75 degrees. I conditioned them in the bag for about 20 minutes and then drop...

Well I just went thru the same thing with my 100 gallon. Of course my Ammonia test was thrown off by the huge amount of water conditioning I have to do. One thing you can try is bio-spira from MarineLand. It actually contains the proper dormant bacteria to convert ammonia to nitrite and contains the...

mmmm...... good point with the hoplos Heok! In that case I am going to run one of the maxi Jets on the lowest setting with the filter attached, and the penguin on the opposite site. It too will have the its huge filter sponge on which should dampen the the amount of water it expells. I guess I will ...

oooo.. just got my 2 Maxi Jet 1200 powerheads rated at 295 Gallons/hr. I also have an older penguin 1140 power head rated at 300gph. Plus my rio 400 for my wetdry filter/sump pump. Of course the first three are going to decrease their output when I convert them to their filter configs. anyways as yo...

Thanks Team! Appreciate the feedback. I did add rocks and driftwood from the other tank to the new one. I did not know that water conditioner would throw off the test. That would make sense now as I add a whole bunch when i did the water tests. I am going to continue to monitor it before I move my B...

Cycling My Tank
Okay I think I really hosed my tank trying to cycle it. I started off trying to "artifically" cycle it. I added pure ammonia to it. I think I added too much! Well after a couple of days I checked the ammonia and it was off the salciyte test. So I decided to change 50 % of the water (100 ga...

Thanks Rusty, I am going to give the maxi jet 1200 a shot. Just ordered a couple and want to see how quiet they are. If they are not I will send them back and get another 1140. BTW I took that POS Rio 400 back to the store. I am working on using that older 1140 to replace the noisy rio 400 return pu...

My New Fish Tank
Well boys and girls... I finally got my new tank. I bought it used on Craigslist and spent 400.00 US. It is a 100 gallon tenecor simplicty plus plexi with a built in wet/dry system. It has slots for all of the gear in the back (pumps/heaters/mechanical and biologocal filtering). It currently has a r...
