Leporacanthicus are tricky to sex, this is my pair, not same species but same family and similar traits, might help as a comparison.
the rounder body tends to suggest a pair of females.
I always used liquifry number 3 to start my hatchlings off once they had fully absorbed their yolk, then after a few days onto some courgette it has far more nutrition than cucumber as that is mostly water.
I have 2 both of which spend most of their days in caves, sometimes the same one being male and female, rarely find them out in the open unless the lights are off, hoping for a spawn at some point!
These have bred before I'm told, video of the eggs and babies is quite blurred though so a little sceptical but going to try non the less, the mouth has a presence of fine hair thick internal teeth.
They were sold as L075 sabaji's but when I compare to the other 75 I have in another tank they look nothing alike, yes wild caught but unsure on the catch location.
more than happy to get more photos if any are needed.
Both are approx 7" nose to tail.
Food is mostly aquafarmen special repashy carnivore mix every second day, its been mostly meaty foods they have been having with some veg thrown in for digestive aid and they have bogwood to knaw on for fibre.
These are more recent of the female (or so I believe, much wider) 11229466_10155537426935504_1143417835_o.jpg 11195555_10155537455400504_663596417_n.jpg 11127233_10155537430165504_163823744_n.jpg 10419613_10155536989490504_4835003739856132377_n.jpg 11058759_10155536973375504 ...
Hey guys, through advice from a good chap on one of the facebook groups ive popped on here to put up some photos of my L091's which I cant be 100% sure on sex. One caves the other traps, so it seems like they are a pair but Id like a few second opinions. one seems to be getting plumper but I was ...
I followed the instructions to the letter on exact measurements so the only way they would have overdosed would be if they have an extremely low tollerance to the drug, other fish were fine in the tank so why would it segregate that species and not the others too.
Not sure but ive done the kind thing and put them to sleep, they are emaciated, not taking in food and struggling to get air, water changes and salt was having no effect and couldn't guarantee they would recover, belly's were majorly sunk in so at least they are free of pain and confusion now.
Both mine are males, sometimes they sit as normal on the tank bottom but shallow breathing, and other times on side or upside down, somtimes i think its just luck how they rest, swimming is very hard for them, as is getting air, ive got an airstones in the tank for refuge but they don't really show ...
I keep changing the water yes but still not much improvements, that medication is only available from Germany for uk delivery , i feel they are getting to far gone to get back to healthy, I still hold hope but not much.
Pleased its not just me having problems with hoplos and wormer products, similar circumstance, all other fish fine hoplos dead or close to death, no balance, swimming heavily effected until eventually they die, I'm sending my pack back to kusuri and will also direct them to this post.
Not just my hoplos then, what happened when your hoplos had the wormer, loss of balance, floating upside down etc?
I used Kusuri wormer (also containing flubendazole) on mine and 2 of them died and the other two are not well at all. http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... =6&t=41322
Since treating 2 tanks (300L and 500L both containing 2 hoplos each to treat some loaches with skinny disease (and we all know how hard loaches are to catch) , all at reccomended doses, both sets of hoplos that were bought from different lfs a year or so back, both sets were very healthy and eating ...
