Re: L-173b from Glaser

Thanks for keeping up Posting in this thread. I recently talked to Walter Lechner (Biologist)and he and a Lot of other scientists believe that within the plecos from rio xingu (L66, L173, L236, L333, L399, L400,..)there occurs a Lot of crossbreading - which would explain the extrem Variations within...

Re: Home-made pleco spawning caves

Hello Teresa & Eric, Håvard Støre Andresen was really one of the pioneers in this field along with the fellas from back2nature (Joel Malmström) http://backtonature.se/about/crew/ . In the past couple of years the influence of panta rhei as well as Benjamin Hamann had quite an Impact here in euro...

Re: L235 happy with 24C water temp?

Hello panaque190, your little buggers do come from the Rio Orinoco (Venezuela) - and the water temperature tends to be between 25/29C over there. I cannot tell you if they are happy/nice coloured (never ask a fish :- ) at 24C - but you would certainly be at the lower end of the temperature spectrum....

Re: Home-made pleco spawning caves

Like the idea of the tall one at the back in the first picture, i had an idea a few weeks ago, i dont know how, or if the concept could work, those backgrounds that are designed to be siliconed inside the tank, obviously it would need to be thicker than normal in the size, to accommodate the length...

Re: l134 fight

Hi there,
just my opinion - based on the shape of their body and head - they are 2 females. I have several L75 and the semiadult females behave the same way. The males fight more vicious - and chase each other away.
Ciao

Re: My peckoltia sabaji L 75

Hello Franco - Thanks for sharing your observations - i believe in sexing pleco based on their behaviour (before they show the more obvious signs ) - that's why it is interesting to her from other owners - Do you have by chance any dorsal pictures of your males and females?
Thanks

Re: My peckoltia sabaji L 75

Hello Franco,
how would you describe the difference in behaviour between male & female? How old are they and what size do they have?
Thanks
Max

Re: My peckoltia sabaji L 75

Hello Franco, thanks for the nice pics and the Video. As I keep 5 of them myself (now between 14-16cm) that show a very different behaviour then yours (mine are shy) I'm very interested what the reason could be. First of all mine were caught in the wild (Rio Tapajos) - I got them with about 5-6cm. T...

Re: L399 plecos

Hello Brian,
At roughly what size did they start spawning (assuming you got them when they were still young). I have currently 12 of these little buggers myself (along with 15 L400)
Thanks
Markus
