Hey, those plecs look gorgeous!
telling L399 and L400 apart seems pretty tough to me.
Markus, could u provide some pictures of both your plecs? I would really appreciate that. Thanks.

Re: Pleco ID help?
There are different color variations of the brown/common bristlenose. I have seen some that are very black and some very brown with white spots. If I see this correctly, this pleco has some tiny bristles on his nose, indicating it is very probably a bristlenose. Though it may not be the common brown...

Re: Fry tank
planted tanks with sand and a healthy microbiological flora will be very good for young corys. not sure about a all new tank though. it will take some time to circle it and to get stable enough. if you are going to have lots of fry, 23l might be a little too small. if u can get a bigger one, e.g. 45...

Re: Need help selecting small Cory
I also have a few baby's in my shrimp aquarium (54 liter/14 gallon) together with my Boraras brigittae and these pygmaeus are swimming a lot together with the Boraras. Yes, they seem to enjoy the company of other small swarm/groupfish. I also put some Pygmaeus into a smaller tank for breeding, with...

Re: Need help selecting small Cory
I have both panda's and pygmaeus and they are very different. Where my panda's spend most of their time searching for food on the bottom (and eating everything they can find), my pygmaeus are not so much interested in food. They spend a lot of time swimming in the middle layer of the aquarium (some...

Re: Sterbai spinning uncontrollably and ragged fins
Sorry for digging up this old thread now, but I would like to add a similiar experience i had not so long ago. I had 10 C. Habrosus in a tank with some dwarfcichlids. The tank was allready running for like 6 months when I noticed a bad smell and found some bogwood having a white layer of bacteria or...

Re: Sexing Panaqolus maccus? Spawning at last!
Hey Eric, sad to hear you are finding dead bodies :( i hope it will stop and some of the small ones will survive! I think they dont find enough food. Baby plecos are sometimes too dumb to go look for food. it must be right where they are. I dont really know about baby Panaqolus. But I did some quick...

Nice one! Congrats!
Looks like it's really only about 10-15 eggs. I guess numbers will go up with age of parents, as u posted before.

Re: Sexing Panaqolus maccus? Spawning at last!
nice vid Eric, though it's kinda spooky with that gravel or whatever moving around on it's own right next to the cave all the time :D I actually had to watch it twice to see if it was little fish or gravel. Thanks for the links, I took my time reading them :-) I also caught my 4 clowns and took a cl...

Re: Sexing Panaqolus maccus? Spawning at last!
Hello Eric, Congrats on your spawning. Hope I will see that happening in my tank as well someday. I do have 4 of those fish, too. Bought 2 juveniles some time ago which seem to be females now, at least no odontodes yet. And later I bought another 2 which were still too small to be sexed and I am hop...

Hello Barbie, thank u for your reply. :-) Yes, I have read the articles. Quite a lot about various Hypancistrus. I also have been keeping two L260s for a year now. Still I dont feel like being able to sex them, yet. I don't know about the belly patterns, as those pictures are all I got. And I read b...

Re: Gold Nugget
I do have a 400L(100Gallons) tank, 130x50x60 cm. But there are already some smaller plecos in there and i'm afraid they might mess up the aquascape quit a bit once they are grown out. If you have seen what a 3" pleco can do in your tank than your a little cautious about 8-10" plecos ;) Wel...

Re: Gold Nugget
U just have to love the pattern of Golden Nuggets. They look so awesome. I'm always tempted to buy some when I see them anywhere. But those do get quite big and I'm not sure if I can provide them with a proper tanksize in the long run. Maybe your Nugget was a little lonely and needed some healthy ri...

Hey Franco,
Stunning fish! Look awesome. Though they look more yellowish in your first pics and darker in the new ones. How comes? Did they grow out of their colors or ist it the lighting?
You got any pics of the whole Tank?
Cheers Johannes

6. Thank you very much in advance. Any input is very much appreciated.
I would like to know the reasons for your decisions, so I may understand the sexing of hypancistri some better. Thank you.

Sexing L260
Hello Guys, I'm freshly registered here and I would appreciate your insights on sexing some L260 for me. I do have two males and I want to get some girls for them. I found an importer that has some freshly imported L260, size around 8cm (3,1"). He is trying to catch some females for me. He send...
