Re: Julii Cory fry help
I wonder if you can be too caring when it comes to trying to raise these fry.
I thought it might be my black sand, so I syphoned it all out and replaced it with a finer white sand. I left the black sand in the bucket with about 3 inches of water as I was sure a couple of eggs got sucked in.

Julii Cory fry help
Hi All,
I have been trying to raise cory fry for about 8 months now. 2 adults in the tank seem to be laying roughly 8 eggs every 9 to 14 days, Out of all of those eggs only 2 have ever made it to adulthood and are happily swimming now in the adult tank.

Re: Corys hatching
Hi,
All water changes are done with water from the parent tank. So stats are the same (which are as follows)
Ph 7.2 -7.4 (colour looks similar for both)
Hardness 6
TDS 136
Cheers

Corys hatching
Hi all,
Over the last few weeks I have been moving Cory Julii eggs from the main tank to the small tank.
Out of a total of 50+ eggs I have had 5 reach a size I would deem a success. One has been moved to the large tank and is doing well, the other 4 are still too small so are still in the small ...

Re: Fry tank
Thanks all,
Wasn't too much of a hastle setting up through the opening, might be a bit tricky when the cleaning the mess from the sand, especially now everything is in place. Guess time will tell .
There is a 3 to 4 mm gap between the waterline and tank top, it did look good when filled to the top ...

Re: Fry tank
Thought I would update,
I moved 17 Cory fry (oldest 2 weeks, youngest 1 day) out of their bowl and into the new tank today.
Tank was filled with water from the main tank and the tiny filter media was put in the bucket of water used to washout the sponge media on the main tank.
I plan on getting a ...

Re: Fry tank
Thanks for the reply,
While it will be a new tank, everything including the water will be coming from the main tank (Probally just before a water change). I also have extra sponge in the main filter that can be transplanted into fluval edge filter.

Re: Cory eggs in sand
Great, thanks for that, I was using an airline hose to change the water, already sucked one little fishy into the bowl and had to pipette him back.
In other news, the eggs on the sand are starting to hatch, and they are very active. The eggs on the leaves haven't moved yet but I expect them any ...

Re: Cory eggs in sand
I've managed to get some frozen baby brine shrimp . I put some in yesterday and also this morning but haven't seen it eat any.
As I only have 2 fry (one a week old, other a couple of days) I'm worried about water pollution. I change 50% of the water twice a day via some air line hosing. but am ...

Re: Cory eggs in sand
I seem to have lost one of the 2 hatched fry, by lost I mean cannot see anywhere.
It is possible it's just camouflaged by the dark sand, it took me a good 10 minutes to find one of them, and even then I had to turn the air pump off. I'm 100% sure he hasn't been syphoned out as I am extremely ice in ...

Re: Cory eggs in sand
Many thanks for the info.
She laid 16 eggs in total tonight. I moved them from the glass and put them on plant leaves (with stems) which I then placed in the fry tank. The eggs seemed to stay in place when on the leaves.
They fry tank doesn't have a filter, but had an airstone for water movement ...

Cory eggs in sand
Hi all,
New to the forum, and come with a question :ymblushing:
My Julii Cory have been laying eggs, over the last week a couple haven't left each other's side, and seem to be laying 5 at a time randomly.
I initially purchased a breeder net and put the leaves that had eggs on into it, I left the ...
