Am I just an orange Gibbiceps?
Sister in law was sold this fish as a bristlenose
He/she is about 5-6 inches long, and is a very pretty fish (his name is Gerald)
Unfortunately Gerald is only in a 40l tank.

Unfortunately no, though when they were 2cm long they were just really dark, basically black.

I would be okay with that, cheers Jools.
Time for a tank upgrade then. And to get another bristlenose.

My "bristlenose" appears to be Pterygoplichthys?
Let me preface this by saying, bollocks :/ Purchased 2 juvenile "bristlenose" at less than 2cm long, unfortunately 2 became 1 by morning. This lone "bristlenose" has been extremely elusive over the last 6 months, and by elusive I mean today is the first time me and the partner ha...

L077 "Rusty pleco" - Free to GOOD home - Gateshead NE England
Location: Gateshead, Tyne and Wear - North East England Free to GOOD home, one L077 Rusty Plec for specific reasons. Fish has begun to predate on smaller fish and was potentially being out-competed for food by another pleco, would like the fish to be rehomed to another that can give it a better, mor...

Re: L190 Royal Pleco "shy and elusive"... YEAH RIGHT
Oh absolutely. I just caught mine chasing after the flake food that the acaras have missed. Never expected a banjo cat to go for flake food, i'll get him some live bloodworm later today.

L190 Royal Pleco "shy and elusive"... YEAH RIGHT
Just thought i'd share some pictures of my juvenile L190, a fish that if you google it everywhere seems to tell you that it is shy and elusive. Well this guy spends 90% of his time in full view, complete disregard for his surroundings. He goes nuts for green pepper but spends a lot of time chasing d...

Re: Greens are good for u-and for plecs?
I've used raw sweet potato, raw celery, raw bell pepper (but remove the seeds first, they are probably TOO SPICY), I've been thinking on this, and came to the conclusion that fish probably can't taste spice. Bare with me on this one. Peppers and Chilli's are relatively recent additions to the flora...

Re: L077 Rusty Pleco hyper aggressive
Thanks i'll give it a try. He has been moved to a temporary tank on his own for now though whilst I decide if he should be moved on or not though. I don't want to keep a fish and try to force it to fit into a tank if it's discouraging its natural behaviour, if I happen across someone who's happy to ...

Re: Greens are good for u-and for plecs?
My plecos go nuts for chunks of green pepper. They go through it in half the time compared to courgette, though this didn't like potato or carrot much. I think it's generally personal preference, though it might be a colour thing, as ours will try anything green, but hesitates around other colours (...

Re: L077 Rusty Pleco hyper aggressive
I should note that the tank has plenty of soft wood, and the plecos are fed on courgette or pepper regularly.

L077 Rusty Pleco hyper aggressive
Hello folks, always visited the Planet Catfish forums but never posted, but now find myself in need of information from people in the know, specifically about catfish. Juwel Rio 180 - Tank currently includes; 2x Platinum Acara 1x Banjo Catfish (that we never see, but is one of the smaller varieties,...
