The general consensus seems to be that she is Peckoltia Vittata, due to her body and fin shape, and markings (not colour variation).

So I'll go and hunt out some P. Vittata and if I can find a male that closely resembles my little lady, then I will get her a mate :D . If not, she'll stay a spinster ...

I got this little girl nearly two years ago and have already posted an ID request ( Here ), I did go back to the shop and found out the fish was imported from Brazil, unfortunatly they had none in, and have had none since.

I would like to try for a good ID again, as I really would like to breed her ...

So I wasn't a million miles out then! :D

Ryan's measurements are wrong I'm afraid, the tank is only 51cm wide, and that even includes the plastic surround.

My Rio 400 is quoted as 151 x 51 x 62, the plastic base takes up 1cm of that giving 150 x 50 x 62, then the glass is 10mm thick giving 148 x 48 x 62, and you can only fill the tank up ...

BTW the tank dimensions are 121Lx62Hx62W cm = Volume 383L.

I'd check on your tank dimension, and the actual amount of water in there.

I have a Rio 400 and when full, to slightly over the recommended level, there is about 360 litres of water in it.

Your quoted 383 litres is the volume taken up ...

You could still put a river system in a 2ft tank. It would be ideal for a few small hypancistrus plecs, such as L260.

I agree with Larry, Dad seems to pass up any food for anything up to 3 weeks, so I only let them spawn twice before raising the temp up to 28*C to stop further spawns.

And as such the Mum and Dad albino BN's are going in with the discus on Algae duty until they are big enough to spawn properly.

I use the API Nitrate test kit with two bottles. Bottle 2 contains the cadmium, the metal used as an indicator. This needs to be held in suspension.

This test suggests a good 30 second shake of bottle 2 before adding to the sample, then the sample is shook for a further 1 min and left to stand for ...

Ive just removed fout 10lt buckets of sand from my display tank leaving a 1cm thick layer on the bottom. I have also removed all my plants and most of the bogwood, all in preperation for two.......... Potamotrygon Motoro :D :D :D

Do you starve your fish for a couple of days before shipping?

Do you oxygenate your bags before shipping? (a squirt of pure oxygen in to the head space of the bag will do)

Do you add any nitrogenous waste absorber (I think amquel zaps this) to your bags before shipping?

That should help ship fish ...

The life of DI resin is dependant on the hardness of the water it is filtering and how contaminated with chemicals it is.

Hard water with chlorine/chloramine, nitrates, heavy metals etc, will quickly exhaust DI resin.

I get mine to spawn (L333's) by feeding them up on frozen prawns and cod scraps, then do a series of cold water changes, little and often. The tank has 160lts water @ 31*C, and I do 20lt changes daily, cold enough to drop the temp by a couple of degrees.

I've never tried to let the nitrates build ...
