Re: Amblydoras nauticus spawned

the environment goes from clear bright skies and the pounding heat of tropical sun to cloudy and dark. It's the reverse in Scotland. :-) [Brought to you by the Scottish weather channel, https://taps-aff.co.uk/] Back on topic, the humidity and other factors change too. Makes a lot of sense... Jools

Re: Help me create a photographic database for wood cats!

I am working towards this, but there is something of a sequence of events. 1. I need to make multiple spawning reports work because it would be very daft to add the other features, then add this and then have to "redo the plumbing after I've finished the tiles". 2. I need to make the cong...

Re: Adding A Second Spawning Report

Perhaps it could be more than simply multiple dates? Can multiple spawning reports be handled in a fashion similar to the way that multiple populations are handled in the Registered Keepers? Thus just as a person can click on the "Add to My Cats" cats link to create a new population, perh...

Re: Adding A Second Spawning Report

Some progress. The "further spawning dates" feature is up and running, just cleared quite a lot of testing, so I hope it's pretty much complete without bugs that I can think of. This is meant to be used for recording multiple spawning events with the same population / aquarium. Cheers, Jools

Re: Wishlist editing

Indeed, "user-centric" as they call it nowadays. The former roughly means both the process and the interface, with user-friendly meaning the interface. Anyway, I get it, and I understand its importance. Nowadays, folks look at the process and design the software/website to that to make a &...

Hi Jeanne,

I had a look at what you've got stored and I can't see anything wrong. Can you please provide details? A screenshot would help too if you can attach one.

Thanks,

Re: Corydoras leucomelas

The hard part with distribution info is that using any data but the holotype location from the description introduces lots of false information. I have stacks of "Fishes of...." papers full of bad identifications. In all fairness, the survey teams rarely (if ever) have a full compliment o...

Re: Whats this woodcat?

I agree on the photos in B. macracanthus looking like B. sp. peru as per Steve's book and matching the description in there too. B. macracanthus is a Rio Negro fish and so relatively likely to be exported. Fishes from the Madre de Dios are not often exported. Although the determination in the cat-el...

Re: Wishlist editing

No worries, good to talk about it. So, let's say you have your "wishlist moment" and head over to this site. If, as you say, you then go to wish list(1), click a new add button (2) and then select species(3) and then add to wishlist(4), then that's four steps. Alternatively, if you head ov...

Re: Corydoras leucomelas

That one record (https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/620801135) looks a bit odd. Would love to have seen the fish.

IIRC, a synonym of C. leucomelas is found in the Orinoco, but pretty sure it's not exported. Will check when I get time.

Not Venezuela, but Colombia yes (area around Leticia). That said, Amazon flooded forest biotope - not Orinoco or her tributaries.

Also, C. punctatus isn't Venezuelan either?

Re: Wishlist editing

Hi Naturalart, Would be good to explore this add feature. I thought that users are either (1) browsing the cat-elog, or (2) they are in an fish store or reading a book and then want to add a fish to their wishlist. If (1) then they add the wish from the species profile. If (2) you type the species n...

Re: Unable to upload photo of eggs in a BLOG

Took me a few hours this morning but I've ripped out all the image handling code in the "my blog" pages and rewritten them - they were not very well done in the first place (self-critique!) and years later are now quite hard to follow. I've tested adding new images and also replacing exist...

If you're willing to buy fish that are shipped you can get many of these species fairly readily. https://www.wetspottropicalfish.com/ is a very good example. Also AllOddballAquatics on https://www.aquabid.com/. I'm guessing you don't want the whole list all at once! :-) The other thing is I am not s...

I've fixed it, stray character in the code. Your images were uploading, but the database never got properly updated to reflect this.

Would you mind trying now and reporting back?
