Re: Your favourite catfish in space wearing a kilt

It'll be an amalgam of the most commonly photographed catfishes on the internet. Guessing Corys and Channel cats and, of course, artificial "imagination".

Re: on mouse over thumbnail not working again?

The tooltip code is some 20 years old. It was cutting edge then but is super clunky now. So, I've ripped it out and replaced it with the modern way of doing similar. In the forum, it's not finished yet, but at least we have the image back. There are about 20 other uses of tooltips outside of the for...

If you discount those familes, you're getting into the realms of species that have not been bred before. Or at best once or twice. Are you really sure none of them work for you?

Re: Advice Needed for Breeding Sterbai Corydoras

You don't normally need to do this but breeders of other families of fishes like characins for example keep males and females apart and then put them together. Reducing to one certain male is a good shout - having six is an unusual set-up. Honestly, try neglecting them for a few weeks then pick back...

It's not clear-cut for me. Here's some data, starting with a translation of what was written when L386 was introduced in DATZ. "L-Numbers A "new" Harnischwels from the Río Magdalena As early as autumn 2003, Transfish (Planegg near Munich) imported a Lasiancistrus species from the Colo...

Just on the lights, as I brought it up, agree with 8 hours, just not so bright or rather think about making it a little less sparse. I also have all sides of my tanks, except the front, covered.

Re: Breeding Sterbai Corydoras

Great, and the fish look really nice. I'd consider spawning mops and/or java moss. Maybe the only thing missing is the spawning site.

For me, I'd lower the lighting and not have too much current - but that's fiddling at the edges.

If the females are in condition, neglect them for a few weeks. Then start up your regime.

What size are the fishes, can you post a pic or two?

That was caused by a line of code I can't remember ever seeing before. But I wrote it! Anyway - the problem is fixed and will work faster in the updated environment.

Re: Catfish Photography

I think you might be right, but I didn't manage to take pictures of it. It was a really ordinary looking pleco, right? But quite the cool species still? Yes, one for the catfish hardcore. A stupidly dull-looking pleco that is only cool to cool catfish people. I use the term "cool people" ...

Re: Driftwood from Alabama River

I'm not sure of the blackened interiors in the lower two. The vertical one might be a conifer and I'd avoid it. The other two look OK but I don't think many, if any, could ID these to species beyond saying they are probably deciduous and probably OK.

Re: Driftwood from Alabama River

I think there are at least two trees in there maybe three. Unless the seller can confirm where they came from and if they've been treated with anything then it's potluck. Sticking them outside in water for a few months would tell you if they'll be OK. I can't help thinking you could collect your own...

Re: Temporarily place my L200 with larger L190?

I'd say this would be OK given you've only got the fishes you mention assuming both plecos aren't bigger than about 150-200mm SL. Why not move them and see how it goes for a few weeks before selling the 1st tank? I'd move the bigger fish into the smaller fish's tank to mix up the bigger fish's terri...
