Love this. It is too easy to think old information isn't valuable. Also, I feel like this was only posted yesterday.

Re: Map pins not displaying
OK, so the specific method we were using to draw pins on the map was switched off by Google. There are many new alternatives and what I've done is implemented a simple one. For now, this is half fixed because I still need to work out how to differentiate between type localities and occurrences (purp...

Re: Map pins not displaying
As of February 21st, 2024, google.maps.Marker is deprecated. Please use google.maps.marker.AdvancedMarkerElement instead. At this time, google.maps.Marker is not scheduled to be discontinued, but google.maps.marker.AdvancedMarkerElement is recommended over google.maps.Marker. While google.maps.Mark...

Re: Phylogenetic classification of ray-finned fishes
Done. That is indeed a tome! Also of note, Molecular phylogenetic analyses resolve the enigmatic Conorhynchos conirostris (Anteater Catfish), which is currently not classified in a Linnean-ranked taxonomic family (Eschmeyer and Fricke 2023), in a clade with other South American freshwater lineages t...

Re: Is it worth adding an extra category to the "Further spawns" in BLOGs?
This is do-able. I could also add notes per addn spawn (I prefer not to use notes and prefer data ascribed to a property e.g. placement of eggs).
So, questions back are there any other data items that would be useful here and also would notes per spawn be utilised - if so for what.

This a commercially raised that may be a hybrid. The dorsal fin spine is not white and doesn't look straight.

Addendum: Peckoltia greedoi :-) ... and now with Star Wars transition circular wipe style. Work here is done! Have done quite a lot of work on the styles across the site. New button styles, the fonts across the site are now standardised (hasn't worked since 2003!) and some other background fixes. I'...

Re: Why fish/fishtank relation if i can not define fish multiple times
Yes, you're right. The idea was that the species was the entire population that you had. Then you could split it up into different tanks. The usecase being that often you will move a particular fish from one place to another or grow out fry in new tanks. I never got around to that. So, folks with fi...

It was actually where the IUCN status was set to space. I've corrected these. This was part of a change to the species datasheet that shows the IUCN colours where the status is set.

Re: ID of possible synodontis ornatipinnis (?) bought as corydoras
I loved the way Hybrid Species 9 looked and 4 years later he is on par with the Decorus. I figure Decorus makes up part of the Hybrid Species 9. My Synodontis are in a 180-gallon with a lot of rock work. They are cool catfish and do get big. I like them too, even though they are artificial. Can I a...

Yes, I'd be happy to get more pictures of this species on the site. If you'd prefer to do that via PM it's great. But we don't have any restrictions on talking about importers etc in the open.
As you prefer, but keen to look more into this.

From small about 1" per six months, more if lots of space and food. A 4x2x2 would be a fine home for one. What do you plan to keep it with?

It's a joy you're here! This looks like S. ocellifer to me. Might be farm raised, but the yellow fins tends towards a WC fish.
