Were did you buy the cat. It looks like a hybrid to me. I have 1 almost identical which is now 5inches after 12 mth. If I remember correctly it was sent in as a tank bred Multipunctatus but soon lost its white colour.

We used to use this kind of filtration all the time years ago, albeit with extra current provided in the form of internal filters etc. Most of the aquariums in our shop are currently run on ug filters with no problems. Frequent cleaning is the key.

Adding to what Jools as said, plecos do spend most of there time at the bottom half of the tank. If the substrate is not cleaned frequently, toxins can build up causing all sorts of problems. How often do you gravel clean?

Apart from disease in the form of internal worms etc, I think the tank breaking may hold the key. Did you reseal the tank yourself, and if so what sealant did you use? It sounds to me like a fungicidal based sealant as been used. Thus poisoning your fish. Are there any other fish in the tank other t...

Most cory cats are not fussy feeders and relish worms in particular. They may just be attracted to the scent of the food. As for the variety yours maybe the Cory Paleatus kind. I am not sure if there are any albino variants in other forms. As a general these cats can reach 3inches max. Your tank may...

Use a polyfilter of some description to remove the antibiotics, they will only kill more filter bacteria. I take it the fish never got returned to the lfs then.

I would stick with the Eheims, you get what you pay for. As for cleaning, all filters require some attention on a frequent basis depending on stocking levels.

Hi. Bow fronted tanks do sometimes make fish look weird, more so when they are near the back of the tank. Your stock list as several pitfalls, most notably the pims will eat most of the tetras in a short space of time. As for overstocking, if done in moderation with frequent water changes and good f...

Fish must feel pain in some instances, although I must admit if they did surely they would have the sense not to lie up against heaters and burn for a start. The water in the midlands is crap as well . No need for terrorists to poison us the authorities do a good job allready. We advise most of our customers to use still bottled water when doing changes as the tap water is far too high in nitrate and other inpurities or use a purifierof some sorts.
