Re: Platydoras armatulus or not ? And behaviour questions

Thank you for the photos. The difference between the two species is quite obvious when you have the two next to each other. If I understand correctly it is supposed to be nocturnal. So, could this change in behavior be a sign of illness or a problem? The light is filtered with water lenses so the br...

Re: Platydoras armatulus or not ? And behaviour questions

Thank you for your answer.
He's with young ancistrus and a Hypostomus basilisko at the moment so he doesn't have too much competition (he doesn't hesitate to push them to take the pellets).
In terms of quantity of food, what do you recommend? Starting from a diet every two / three days.

Platydoras armatulus or not ? And behaviour questions

Hello, I welcomed a week ago, a fish under the name of Platydoras costatus. As I knew that the costatus sold are generally armatulus, I didn't ask myself too many questions. But I discovered while reading its file on PC that it was also confused with Orinocodoras eigenmanni. As I have never had Plat...

Re: Identify three Corydoras species

It looks like it but the size doesn't match. I saw C. ambiacus giant on an online sales site, is it a variety or another species?

Identify three Corydoras species

Hi, I come to you again for an identification of Corydoras. I have three to identify but I think I have two distinct species. In order to facilitate identifications (and because they are quite shy and therefore difficult to take a picture of), I will put them one by one on this subject. So we start ...

Re: Damaged tail Corydoras

At the water level, I make sure not to exceed 10 mg / l in nitrates. Only the pH may be a little low (between 6.0 and 6.5). No ammonia or nitrite.

The ones I put in a bigger tank are starting to recover slowly. I hope that the recovery will be complete and that they will have no sequelae.

Damaged tail Corydoras

Hello, I have a little problem with my corydoras fry. Some have deformed tails which give them a slightly wobbly swim. In food they have different pellets, daphnia and mysis as well as homemade pâté. I'm afraid it's maintenance. They were in a 60l (about 200 fry) and I just passed them through a 300...

Re: Hypostomus basilisko ?

I got it from an individual who didn't seem to know anything about it (I paid $15 for it when it's worth at least $50 in France). He told me he had it for at least 10 years, maybe more. He kept it in a 60l (13 gallons) and then in a 160l (35 gallons). I didn't ask about the diet but not sure he was ...

Hypostomus basilisko ?

Hello, I have just acquired this catfish under the term "pleco" (term which includes loricaridae in France). I therefore come to you to identify the species as well as the sex. It looks a lot like H. basilisko: -bicolor -Brown eyes - slightly red fins -about 12 cm (he is between 10 and 15 ...

cooking recipe for catfish

Hello, given that Repashy for fish (and some of those for reptiles) have become impossible to find in France because of animal meal (same problem with beef heart for fish), I find myself having to make my own food for my fish. For all that is tetras and guppy I feed with flakes so no worries. But fo...

Re: Hatching & Raising fry

Hello, I have done quite a lot of breeding Corydoras aeneus albino and I have about 500 fry in my tanks. I have about 250 that are just over 3 months old and they are barely 2cm tall. So would you have any growth charts to see if it's normal for them to grow so slowly? They were bred with microworms...

L129 or L204 ?

Hello, I just bought 3 L129s and on one of them, the seller told me he was hesitating between L129 and L204 (his supplier sold him as an L129). What do you think? They measure 4 cm, is it too young for an identification? First the two L129: https://zupimages.net/up/22/20/j77t.jpg https://zupimages.n...

Drugs that can be used on catfish

Hello, having already had several diseases in my tanks, some of which required shock treatment (use of salt), I would have liked to know if anyone had a link or a book with the products that can be used on catfish and the dosage. As catfish (and loaches) have a specific skin, I know that certain pro...

Re: Hinding places for catfish (10")

I was thinking more of the style of the second photo, it would allow several caves to be made without the fish seeing each other. The problem of waste accumulation I thought about it but there are not many solutions. If there is a fish in a cave, in theory it should evacuate the waste by moving (sma...

Re: Hinding places for catfish (10")

I found this style of tray that could match. I could of course add other elements to create new hiding places even if this style already offers quite a few. For example, I could add a maze of PVC pipes underneath. Are there any stones to avoid with catfish? I will of course file the edges to avoid t...

Re: Hinding places for catfish (10")

Thank you for your answers. I had seen the PVC tubes but they are unattractive. I know that on this kind of fish it is better to focus on layout rather than aesthetics, but the problem is that the tank will be in the living room (the only place possible given its size, a room which is very quiet in ...

Hinding places for catfish (10")

Hello, Following my subject of Synodontis granulosus breeding project, I ask him questions about the layout of the tank and in particular about the hiding places. I usually use roots for my other catfish but having never had cats this big and living in hard water, it makes it difficult for me. As it...

Tank biotope congo for Synodontis nigriventris

Hello, while waiting to be able to accommodate S. granulosus in their tank, I plan to attempt the reproduction of Synodontis nigriventris. I have 7 specimens (4 of 8 years old and 3 of 4 years old). I have at my disposal a 160l tank (100 x 40 x 40 cm) which will be entirely dedicated to them. The de...

Hello I found a 1400l tank, so I could put a removable partition for periods outside reproduction. I also had my supplier who may have wild synodontis but the timelines are unknown. I did not know that this reproduction had been made with hormones. This complicates the task a little and increases th...
