Re: My new L397s and Peckoltia compta, imported from the UK to California

Haha no. It is my L134 group. Since last December one of the males kept trapping different females and the duration for each trapping usually lasted for more than 1 week and sometimes more than 2 weeks. However, not a single time they produced any eggs. I wonder what I might have done wrongly. I wil...

Eric,
Do you still do normal water change (e.g. 50%) while the fish are mating or the males are fanning eggs?

Okay this time this pair has stayed in the cave for 16 days and today the female exited without laying any eggs (expected). I think that both male and female must come out during night to eat...

Re: A L134 female has been trapped by a male for two weeks. No eggs

The same "hairless" subdominant male trapped another female last Thursday and they have stayed in the caved since then. So it is day 5 now. Do they come out to feed during the night? I see the male keeps vibrating which apparently consumes a lot of his energy. I find this very intriguing b...

Re: A L134 female has been trapped by a male for a week...

just an update. The female and male stayed together for 14 days and female left the cave this morning (likely last night). No eggs. The male lost all his hairs which is intriguing to me. I guess he was not ready anyways. I searched from different forums regarding how long a 134 pair can stay togethe...

Re: A L134 female has been trapped by a male for a week...

Thanks Eric! I can not tell if there are serious injuries since the female is very deep in the cave. I was actually very surprised at this because this male is a subdominant one in that tank. And he is not hairy at all. I only see a little odontode growth around his tail. Mostly importantly, this ma...

A L134 female has been trapped by a male for two weeks. No eggs

Dear all,
I have a 30G hosting 5 L134s with 2m/3f. One male trapped a female in a cave last Friday and they have stayed there for a week ... I feel that this is a little too long. Is this normal at all?

Thanks!

Eric, what kind of wood is best (and cheap...) for L397 and how often do you replenish the wood?
Thanks!

Re: Who is breeding C. Eques

My eques group has been very active. After every WC, they swim against the glass up and down and males chase females like crazy. I have seen numerous times males try to form a "T-position" with females, while females show no interest in spawning.

Re: My new L397s and Peckoltia compta, imported from the UK to California

My tank is heated to 84F. When I do water changes, the magnitude of the temperature drop in the aquarium varies from summer to winter, based upon how cold the water coming out of the faucet is: In the summer, even my "cold" tap water is nearly 80F, so there is little change in overall tan...

I haven't tried any beans yet with these plecos. To make sure I understand you, do you mean French-cut green beans? Have you used them? If so, with what plecos and what was your experience with them as food? I have used (blanched or raw) peeled black-eyed peas and kidney with other plecos. They are...

I feel that L397s (and maybe other species) are breeding like guppies in your tank... so natural and easy.

How often do you feed them, once a day or twice?

Is this an L134?

Hi all,
I recently received three "L134"s but I feel that not all that I got are L134s. I have attached a photo for each fish. I think that only fish #3 is an L134. What do you think?
Thanks!

Hmm.. so you offer L397 a lot of meaty food too? I thought that they tend to get bloated by that?
