Ah...I'd missed that because I looked only at the Type Locality. Xingu is in the southern part of the Amazon, but a mistake between Xingu and a northern Amazon river such as the Negro is a lot easier to understand. Thanks!

Yeah that was exactly my first thought, but Peckoltia sabaji is from Guyana, not Rio Xingu, so that would imply there was a mistake in the fish's origin, which is a little bit wierd given the specifics of the situation (the owner is Brazilian and it's not common for plecos to be imported from other ...

This little beauty was sent to me as being from Rio Xingu, but I couldn't find any pleco from that basin that matches it. Any ideas?

You even have the name Imperial Ranger Pleco on that page...odd that it didn't show up on search, Planet Catfish is usually among the first results whenever I'm researching a Loricarid.

Anyway, I'm only staying in Japan for another year so I'll have ...
