I am looking for positive ID that these are indeed L398 as the importer claims.
Thanks in advance for your help

Re: ID help - could these be L398 (P. Tankei)?
My objective was to get a positive ID from those who are familiar with the species whether they are L398 or not as I had a few concerns. The seller understood that a mistake has been made and duly returned the money I paid. Wasn't planning on buying P. Maccus for any price. Thanks for all the help i...

@bekateen
The seller was asking $30 per fish. I am guessing he paid half for them.

ID help - could these be L398 (P. Tankei)?
I am looking for a positive ID on the fish attached. They are being sold as L398, but the seller is not certain. I have some concerns.

Re: L397 fry update....
@b.reder I guess I got lucky with the the adult groups I purchased. Also got a lot of support and advice from many expert members. Here's what an expert breeder shared with me ... Good stock + excellent water quality + good food + patience + enjoy your fish = spawns I find that plecos usually spawn ...

Re: L397 fry update....
@ bekateen Thanks. They are growing by the day on Ebo Aquaristik Spirulina Paste and Youngster Grow. Ebo food is new to North America but very popular among European Pleco Keepers. I also use their adult food for my Plecos. Gold Coast Aquatics in NY brings the Ebo products and can be contacted via F...

Re: Are these L397?
@jobro
I believe that all 4 fish you've posted are L397s despite the darkish orange colour. They all have the squiggly pattern on their heads and the 3 colour stripes on their fins.
They may not hv your standard L397 colours but they are L397s.

Re: L397 fry update....
@Jobro, @bekateen The squiggly facial markings are right for a L397. I took the liberty of magnifying the tail of Jobro's adult fish and you can see the characteristic white band (albeit a bit faint) of the L397 in it. See pic attached. I have to admit that the red in Jobro's L397 is very striking. ...

@TwoTankAmin, @Brian 2014 I am not a 'professional' pleco keeper like some of you. Just a newbie having acquired my first Pleco about 18 months ago. However, I am a 'professional' at tumbling eggs having kept difficult Tanganyikan fish like Tropheus, Petrochromis and Cyprichromis for many years. Tum...

Re: L397 fry update....
@syno321 - I noticed 4 wigglers with yolk sacks in a corner of the breeding tank. I took the cave with dad and tipped it into a bowl with water. The rest of the L397 wigglers just popped out.

Re: L397 fry update....
@syno321 I tumble the eggs in a Ziss Egg tumbler until about 75% of the yolk sack is absorbed. Thereafter, I move the wigglers into a Ziss fry box with an IAL. There is an air stone attached to the fry box. I start feeding them with Hikari First Bite, 2 days after the yolk sack is fully absorbed. Af...

Thanks Eric and Barry. Quite a big first spawn. I was a bit surprised after being used to an average of 15 from my L46 groups.

L397 Spawn
This is what I woke up to in the morning. My first ever L397 spawn. Noticed 4 wigglers in a corner of my tank with yellow shrimp. I've had the group for only a couple of months. For some reason I thought that Cara Wade lived in the UK. When she was looking to get a positive ID of the fish in question on a FB Pleco forum, I offered to post them on planetcatfish.com. It has now come full circle. What a small world
