I can deal with the cories eating some shrimp fry.

I picked up two corydoras hasbrosus from an auction table recently and just put them into the most appropriate tank I had. It's a planted 10g with a fairly large breeding colony of cherry shrimp as well as a couple of small (temporary )upper dwelling fish.

By mutts I did mean a strain created by hybridizing initially. That's what I thought the commons (sp.3) was.
If that's debatable then, is what you're saying that some believe it is a pure strain and no-one just happens to have found any wilds to prove ...

Most tank bred commons are "mutts" aren't they? So likely she is too and she's just a throw back to to some ancestor that looked like her?

yes! Silurus, that's exactly what she looks like. I say she because still no bristles and I've had her for 8 months. Also hasn't put on much length, she's only about 2.75 TL. Has a nice solid build though, she isn't skinny.
I like her, much prettier then the usual commons.

the tank is full of live plants, part of my concern is that all the other fish in the tank are such pigs that I'm worried there's nothing left. I have started dropping in a little food after lights out though so maybe that will help. makes me feel better anyway. :)

Could you point out what differentiates this fish from Ancistrus sp. 1 in the Catalog? I ask because I have a bn that resembles both of them.
