Thanks, Eric. I tried it this morning and, after one unexplained glitch, it took off and has been working fine for me since!
I would not have reported it if it had been a one-time issue, but for at least a day and a half the above error message was returned, as I said, no matter from what device ...
I'm so glad to hear you are okay, and came out of the storm without too many losses! You weren't too far from where the storm made landfall, were you? Scary.
As you may remember, my brother lives a few hours from you - remember the pleco rescue conversation? - but was out of town and ...
Thanks, Darrel. Sorry for the late acknowledgement - we had two medical crises at my house, so there was no time for Planet Catfish. All is well, now, btw ...
My Akysis tank is already very much as you describe. The sand bed is deep, and there is a wide line of flat river rocks and "boulders ...
Does anyone keep plants in a tank with Akysis vespa ? If so, what sort of plants are working out the best? And what is your planting scheme? That is, do you plant the perimeter of the tank only?
Some of my plants have been uprooted by my vespa, but I don't want to give up on plants for this tank ...
Good! Feeding more often and keeping things cleaner is a good recipe, and probably one that would work with many other species. One question: does cleaning more often mean more water changes or more siphoning of debris? Which seems to be needed more, of the two?
Eric, I was going to ask how you determined that the white things were a parasite, but after viewing the youtube, it's pretty clear that they are moving and alive.
But, are they parasites? Perhaps the creature and the fish are in some sort of symbiotic relationship? Shane used to post a lot about ...
jd , your proposed tank sounds almost exactly like the tank I have set up in a 56 tall tank. The substrate is ordinary black and white cichlid sand mixed equally with pool filter sand, for a nice mushroom color. I scattered tiny Bursa gravel shells here and there, to mimic the bottom of the Lake ...
Of course we're interested! That is a nice job you've done there, I love it. :) It's always good to see how things are done behind the scenes.
I kept a large group of P. maccus with many other small catfish species, including Chaetostoma, in a 75 gallon for years. Initially, the temp was set to ...
Hi! I bought two banjo catfish just the other day, and am wondering which species are they? I assume Bunocephalus something, but I've been wrong about that before.
Here they are together: 20170505_172537_001.jpg
And here is a view of the long bones (with visible hooks), which I have been told ...
For my 6 foot (1.83 m) stand, I'm thinking of using 2x4's under each pair of legs. Each piece of wood would measure ~2"x4"x20" (or longer), and would be oriented from front to back. This stand does not have the L-shape legs, but bent, hairpin-shape legs, curved side ...
@Bas Pels, can you please explain this a little more:
I got a tiled livingroom - ceramic tiles, just like you have, and my tank is standing on concrete poles (17). These are standing on plywood, and I got more plywood on top of them. What are the "concrete ...
We have just moved to a new house, with all new construction. The room where I plan to keep my fish tanks has a tiled floor, for easy clean-up of any spilled water. The tiles are ordinary ceramic, 12" x 12" (30 cm x 30 cm). The tiles are laid over a wooden subfloor, supported by appropriate joists ...
Late to the ball, as usual, *lol*, but I have to say that I just used this feature on my phone and I love it!
Listing each species separately, with the three choices of "edit, no change, and stop keeping" makes it far more likely that the updates will be done. I don't remember this ease of use in ...
What a wonderful trip it must have been! Thanks for all the great pictures and thanks to Eric for re-posting the videos. I, too, could not see them in the original post. I do have one question - and it's simply because I don't know how long a catfish, such as the Baryancistrus shown, can remain out ...
Great story, Erlend, and thank you for telling it in such an engaging way.
I've kept four species of banjo catfish, two Bunocephalus and two Pseudobunocephalus, and with each I've had to revise the ID's, even more than once - actually, with help from some of the folks replying on this thread!
I'd like to try one last time with these two photos of the ventral side; oftentimes for Bunocephalus we are asked to provide a view of the coracoides so that is what I tried to do here.
@Martin S, my banjo is much bigger, about 8 cm (80 mm). No, we can't go by coloration at all. They vary a lot among themselves, from chocolate brown to the lightest cafe au lait.
Now I'm inclined to go with Bunocephalus doriae mentioned by catfishchaos earlier. The banjo in question came from the ...
