Re: Confused about Bristlenose!

Thanks for the input guys!

@bekateen, I'm not looking to breed, just curious ;). Due to the vast amounts of differing Ancistrus, I figured it'd be an impossible task, especially as he came from a large chain store, but, worth a try!

Re: Confused about Bristlenose!

Exactly Eric, neither can I :))

Had him since he was about an inch in size, tank bred so he could be a mix of, who knows!!?? I think that's half the problem with BN's.

But yes, he is a handsome fella ain't he ;)

Confused about Bristlenose!

So I have a Bristlenose but I cannot fathom out whether he's just a plain old 'common' or something else?

Anyone shed any light and also sort out my confusion about him. Do BN's have numbers like the L Nos.?

Re: How can I get the best out of my Plec?

Thanks for the replies.

I've decided that the BN will be moved out of this tank as there are issues regarding both of them together! This will cure the immediate issue and any future issue of aggression between them and also, hopefully, give the Pseuda the confidence to venture out.

Re: BN Plec and L273

Hi Eric,

They are the only two Pleco in the tank and the aggression is coming from the BN to the Pseuda.

There are a few hiding places and also line-of-sight is broken by pieces of wood.

The BN never really comes out until lights out which is the only time he feeds.

I've actually noticed that ...

BN Plec and L273

I'm getting conflicting information regarding the housing of a BN and L273 together!

They're both in a 5ft 500 litre tank. The BN Plec seems to be the boss, at the moment. The BN is fully grown, around 7 inches and the L273 is only a toddler at the moment at around 4-5 inches.

What are peoples ...

Re: How can I get the best out of my Plec?

What else is in the tank and what sort of decors/plants?

Other than the BN Plec, there's Cardinal Tetra, Black Neon Tetra, Glass Catfish, Albino Cory and some SAE.

Odd as it may sound one of the keys is to give your bristlenose as many hiding places as you can, all over the tank. Like pretty ...

How can I get the best out of my Plec?

I've had a Bristlenose for around 3-4 years but never really see him until the lights out yet I see plenty of people who's Plecs seem to come out for food or generally just hang about in plain sight in any case. It's never been a great issue as it's always a nice surprise when we do catch a glimpse ...

Hello all

Long time lurker but just signed up.

Always been the go to place for information regarding Plecostomus for me.

Had a Common Bristlenose for around 3-4 years now who has been through the good times and the bad and has come out the other side unharmed. Bullet proof I would say! I never really see ...
