Hi smithrc,

I too like Barbie bought some very nice Hypancistrus labelled as L173 but which I knew were not.They had been imported by the wholesaler as L173.

Plecolover,

I used a 400mg Metronidazol tablet( ground up) in a 10gal(50ltr) quarantine tank, left for a week ,a small water change than the same dose repeated for a second week,normal temp was increased by 4F.
90F is a bit high for a pleco.
I think,this will increase its metabolic rate, not good ...

Hi Plecolover,
I have used Metronidazol 400mg for 50 ltr which is not too diferent to your dosage and was effective (in Discus).
Metronidazol can also be used in the food, which is more effective. I cannot remember the exact dosage but think it might me 100mg to 100gm food.

I had 3 males and one female L201( which I bought 4 to 5 months ago) which were wild caught, in with some zebras and had no problem whatsoever.Unfortunately cannot tell you their age. If only I knew!!!!!

Today ,I removed 13 zebra L046 babies from their cave, which was in the same tank as the L201.

Whiptail ID please

Hi,
Bought 4 whiptails this week,imported as Pinocchio whiptails. Dont know where they originate from and the only information I came across on the net was the scientific name of Caelorinchus Mycterismus.No other information seems to be available.
Would be grateful if anyone can confirm the above ...

Spawning L201 Hypancistrus Inspector

Hi,

Yesterday , I removed 18 babies from the males cave to add to the 2 that escaped from the cave earlier in the week.The tank was 55ltr and the ph measured today was 6.0.

Hi ,

While we are on the Hypancistrus Inspector Subject,please could someone confirm that the picture of a female shown below is of the same species?.It appears to have cream/gold spots, and not white. Yesterday removed 20 babies from the males cave. :D

Why do you have doubts about this fish?
I have a few L260 both male and female , and am sure you have a female there.

Jorge,

It is a Female. It has short cheek odontodes and short leading pectoral fin odontodes . In a Male these are very much longer.

I bought a pair of these a few months ago , which have spawned a few times in a 1" tube, and were labelled as Loricaria Filamentosa ,in the LFS.
