money has clouded you judgement and your ethics. maybe you should have remained as a hobbyist. I am fully aware community and breeding tank is different. I have a good number of both and the fish interchange between them. Water quality, care and good husbandry has meant that thus far the fish have ...

cartouche, maybe I am wrong but you started this thread to ask about the priciple of hormonal breeding in corydoras and the response is pretty categorical. NO, its a poor idea. Youe apparent need to justify it use brings into question your motives for starting this thread. As far as I am concerned ...

Safe woods
Can I ask which woods people consider to be safe for tank use I appreciate the boyancy issues but I am more concerned with the alakloid and toxicity side of their use.
Thanks in advance

I am with Kim on this one, you describe your fish keeping like a business. Some fish are easier thasn others to spawn and thats life. If you dont like the species because of their difficulty to breed then keep the others. As for the wasted time and money along with fish deaths that you mention.. it ...

TDS or KH GH readings
I am interested in opinions on hardness of water. Which would people feel is best to test for. TDS, KH or GH readings I accept that they are all integrally related but wanted some opinions. I am leaning towards TDS as a one size fits all indication of hardness.

These came in as C57 but I am not convinced that they aren't microcanthus. Let me know what you think

S barbatus, grouping
I have read alot of literaturew that suggests that male barbatus fight and so should be kept apart. Is this also the case with the females. I have a gorup of 4 youngsters ( 1 male and three females ) about 2.5 inches. I have even had them spawn twice but the tank is not set up for breeding and I ...

What was he in with, to me it looks like something has nipped the tail fins, no sign of fungus or rot. Also the one that passes away looked emaciated. Is enough food getting to the bottom. Smaller cories find bloodworm hard work. Try tubifex or best of all for the small ones tabimin. Hope this helps

Maybe fibrous is wrong, i guess mucousy ( if thats a word) is more accurate. Either way it is clogging up the tiny fry. The larger aeneus and paleatus appear unaffected , even the bigger napoensis appear to be do ok. I syphoning the worse of it and doing so twice a day during the water changes but ...

Bacteria??
I am having a problem in my fry containers. There is an accumulation of what i can only describe as slime. It is quite fibrous and the fry are appearing to choke on it. I am convinced it is bacterial blooms. I am, as describe doing 2 50% water changes a day and have a good air supply maintaining ...

water softening without RO
I run 10 tanks with the main focus on keeping and breeding Corydoras, I want to start softening the water as muy tap parameters are like lake malawi ( literally) I have had no problems keeping the cories and even breeding a few of the easier species and all is going well. I now want to get more into ...

Before I went cory crazy , i kept and bred malawi cichlids. I had some fuelleborni fry which I had taken from the female. I introduced all into the fry tank and left the net on the tank hood. The next day ( about 36 hours later) i used the net again and a yound week old fuelleborni swam out as happy ...

I always prefer 2 smaller heatersw toward the one. The reasons are two fold. If the thermostat sticks on you have twice the time to detect the problem before you lose all your fish ( I learnt this the hard way.) Also if one breaks the second can maintain temp for you. Another reason is you will get ...

Melanistus??
I appologise if this is an easy one but I am awful at distinguishing between some of these cory species specifically schwartsi, melanistus, delphax, ephippifer.
I think these are melanistus but would like a second opinion
Thanks
