Mosquito fish (Heterandria formosa) are the best, after corydoras of course. Other than Cories they are the only fish I have and i have them everywhere. I think mainly because I am jealous of the males. Check them out.

I have a very simple question for you... all I really want to know is WHY do you keep fish. Can you give me the honest answer.
As for your sodalis, I have half a mind to take them, at least they would be safe. I have a 400l tank with room that I am sure that would settle fine in.

The dorsal fin doesnt look big enough for the C3 also the black banding isnt very prominant across the eyes. I would suggest young axelrodi, they are quite variable in colouration anyway. Loxozonas juveniles are a possibility also, how big are they and do you have any idea of their origin?

I am interested in opinions on hardness of water. Which would people feel is best to test for. TDS, KH or GH readings I accept that they are all integrally related but wanted some opinions. I am leaning towards TDS as a one size fits all indication of hardness.

I have read alot of literaturew that suggests that male barbatus fight and so should be kept apart. Is this also the case with the females. What was he in with, to me it looks like something has nipped the tail fins, no sign of fungus or rot. Also the one that passes away looked emaciated. Is enough food getting to the bottom. Smaller cories find bloodworm hard work. Try tubifex or best of all for the small ones tabimin. Hope this helps
