Re: Has anyone got a pic of LDA097 Megalancistrus sp?
This is what we export as L234 M. parananus "Dragon High Fin". 20 cm TL, nice round spots. L234_M_cf_parananus_20cm.jpg 35 cm TL, with nice round spots but little darker in colour. L234_M_cf_parananus_35cm.jpg The pictures at Amazon-exotic and the M. cf. barrae above show the same species ...

Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a question :) The distance from Belém area where the O. hoppei are exported from (origin Rio Tocantins drainage) to Rôndonia is very large with states like Mato Grosso/Amazonia between, the picture above of O. hoppei state that B is from Rôndonia and A the lecto...

Re: what hypans do I have?
L270 have a higher body profile comparing the same lenght with L340, L340 have a more stubbier head with slightly larger eyes then L270. L270, and I'm not sure all pics in the Cat-eLog really are L270 but this is a typical L270 with smaller eyes and higher body profile compared with L340. http://www...

L114 and L600 are different locations and they look different... if they are the same species or not for the science I have not a clue but for me they are 2 different species even if they only have 1 name, let see if we can make it more complicated this autum introducing another new P. cf. sp. aff. ...

Re: ID for two L027
This is the typical colouration for Panaque sp "Tocantins" and of course they occur in Araguaia too, unfortunatly there are not so good pictures in the Cat-eLog. http://www.planetcatfish.com/images/full/loricariidae/panaque/cf_armbrusteri%60tocantins%60/1.jpg In the past and still it's qui...

Re: what hypans do I have?
Larry,
Head and eye profile exclude Peckoltia, these are Hypancistrus species and the best match is L340, they are not L270 because the head-body profile is wrong for that species.

Re: L600 Breeding and Fry
They are L114 P. cf. leopardus, L600 and LDA07 is the same species P. leopardus and lack spots on their head and also they have a more "green" base colour.

The first one and the second one which actually are from Teles Pires and not Araguaia which is wrong in the Cat-eLog.

Re: Brazil Suspends Belo Monte Dam!
Rio Iriri is in the original plan with a very huge dam.
I think Baryancistrus species is less sensitive than many other species, I know at leats 10 species endemic to the big bend.
But the fight is not over yet, the resistant within Brazil is huge.

Re: What is my Pseudacanthicus ?
I don't think this is L63, i think this is a species without any L-number and they have recently been smuggled out from Colombia, Peru and probably Brazil. I have never seen it before and I really doubt that the origin would be Rio tocantins.

It's a baby maybe 5-6 cm and at that size they are very similar, I guess L240 or L241 but it could be any of all L. galaxia types.

They can't build the dam without private investors and companies, they just don't have the competence... that was the most stupid statement I have ever heard in my whole life... and I have heard a lot.

Re: Brazil Suspends Belo Monte Dam!
I have a list of species from a study made by the university here, I think I have sent that to you Mike for a year or so back. The list contains of ~460-480 species with an estimation of at least that 600 species occur in Rio Xingu with tributaries and my own estimation is little higher than that......

They are different locations, the same with several other L-numbers for Peckoltia origin Rio Tapajos... if Rio Xingu has the complex of Hypancistrus Rio Tapajos have the same for Peckoltia.

Re: L46 and the Belo Monte dam
If the economy come in the first place, they should not allowe the Belo Monte project like the project is constituted, every one knows they have to build 4-5 water reservoir's (holding dams) upstreams in Rio Xingu to make the Belo Monte hydroelectric plant able to produce the calculated amount of en...
