i stated a post like this on plecofanatics.com but my idea was to have dwarf chain loach eat my snails. i never (well at least not yet) got an answer to wether or not DCL would eat them or leave them be. so do anyone here know?

well i got them, at 6:15pm yesterday after work

6 @ $22 each

they moved in and overnight i have already noticed a big drop in the amount of algae

and so far no cichlid attacks :D

i have had both bristle nose and common plecs in there rescently to clean up the algae a bit, but i have moved them to other tanks since. the B.B. didn't do anything to those plecos but now that they are larger i thought that they might try :?

with the new availability of these fish in Australia, i would like to try some in my 3 foot mixed cichlid tank(ooh, that sounds horrible)

it is an ex-malawi reef tank so it has a lot of feeding space in the form of rock faces

parameters are:
PH; 6.8-7.2
temp;24-28
ammonia; 0
NO2;0
NO3;0

water ...

i couldn't do them these holidays because a leaf-toed geco crawled into the tower-thing and combusted, destroying the computer, but its fixed now so i can start them for you :D

the lichens came in off a piece of wood that i was growing tillandsias on.

the lichen out compeated the algae on that piece of wood and then started to spread onto the near by coconut shell and log.

but now the common plec has done a good job of eating it and there is very little left

will plecs eat lichens

i have them growing in one of my tanks (with tons of algae)and i want to know if a plec would safely eat them. would it just be more fibre in its diet?
would there be any side effects?

well here it is some one who is breeding them localy.

all i know is that they bought their pair for (at least) $250 and then sold the young cheaply to try to bring down the price

if i find out who it is i will tell you :)

yoyo's, botia sidthimunki and botia hymenophysa will be available for legal import as of september 7th thish year, so dont rule them out yet!

there are also other loaches out there like: botia dario, botia beauforti, botia morleti, botia lecontei and rarely botia modesta

i've herd of other loaces ...

Noting to be worried about yet since it is not yet acclimatised to its new surounds.

After a month or two it will start to feed on vegtables

untill then just add more live plats and it will graze off their leaves

ancistrus sp. are found in Ross river (Townsville), the Burdekin river system (north Queensland)and in a couple of little creeks around populated areas. :?
