Looking for L128 positively identified female.

Hi guys. Juan Jose (my male L-128) widowed recently. He is looking to marry again. Looking for a mature broad of his species, 5-6 inches SL. He dislikes hairy "women"! If you know what I mean. If you have a girl (for sure) you're willing to let go...let me know your price. I'm in SLC, Utah...

Re: New (old) blue eye pl*co

Mats now has another two pics (the three Wil sent me) showing the live fish out of the water while he holds it and Prof. Taphorn takes the pics. Also a take of the head straight from the front and a nice zoom in on the mouth. This particular specimen may measure some SL 8-9 inches, but I will try to...

Re: New (old) blue eye pl*co

Hi Shane, thnx for the update. I had just sent Cesar's pics again to Mats. I sent one where Wil is "posing" a nice BEP caught off a well platform near the mouth of the Catatumbo. Don took the pic. I somehow deleted some other pics I had from this series but wrote to Wil and asked him to re...

Ed, very interesting. If you can find the photo, please send it to me: mats at planetcatfish dot com, and I will post it to the P. suttoni page. -- Mats Hi Mats, ok, dumb question...how can I send you an e-mail via planetcatfish? Re: New (old) blue eye pl*co

Hi guys and thnx Larry for pointing me to this thread. The earthen ponds were't exactly part of our college project and any P. suttonorum that we placed in them, was merely to try and keep them there until we had a better place. These ponds, natural ponds in the Northern Perija foothills were used f...

Re: L128 PH sensitive?

LOL Larry. I'm doing a little exception here and I am trying to keep it around 100ppm. Where these guys are from water is around there, somewhat harder than in the tributaries, mainly because it's rough water, a lot of movement, erosion over solid rock surfaces and the TDS is quite higher than in th...

Re: L128 PH sensitive?

Be very careful when adjusting the pH...I also know of people who have kept L128 with africans. I just acquired a pair from a pretty knowledgable hobbyist who basically keep african cichlids and he was keeping them at pH 8+/-. I had him slowly bring them down to 7.5 during a week and had a tank read...

Re: L128, Deworming/Conditioning/Breeding.

Hi Mats, yes, I am aware of Larry's way of doing it (a very good friend of mine BTW and the first person I contacted with my concern), but I usually medicate in feed and not in the water column. I think I over did the concentration and bittered things up too much. The way I think I will go is to off...

Hope the L128 is at least 6 inches for that price. Like Larry says, keep shopping and let the seller cure the bad. These fish are very sensitive to conventional ich treatments.

All Lemon Yellow L200!!!!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a colorful question. It has to do with one my L200. I have a 135G with several Orinoco and Amazon species. Among them a group of four L200. It was about a month ago that I noticed one of the L200 showed up with what seemed to be a total loss of his green overcast an...

About Orinoco and L128/L200

Hi Larry, Andreas and guys... I think Andreas tank is as good as it needs to be to make these fish feel at home. Though some people advise that wood is not necessary, my fish (L128, L200, L137) went through a good amount of bark and wood for several months producing large amounts of "wood bypro...

Hi Rense, of course an air diffuser and air pump will help as a first step. Make sure to allow free circulation of air above the aquarium. Still, I would suggest... 1. More frequent water changing (and gravel cleansing) with water of the right quality (pH,DH - for this species, I would suggest < 6 p...

Dying L-200

A very important parameter to take a look at with most Orinoco mainstream and tributary loricarids is D.O. - The load of fish, circulation of the water column, among several other factors, such as amount of food and residues settling on bottom and if there is any CO2 supplementation can be considere...

I am starting to wonder about the L 128/L 200 designation. I have seen several photos lately sent to me by aquarists whose fish was clearly L 128 (black) at one point and clearly L 200 (green) a year later. I am beginning to wonder if one coloration or the other is not simply a byproduct of diet in...
