No, bringing fish out of Panama was weird! I had all the permits and the check ready for US customs. When we went through Panama customs with the fish (A huge ice cooler full AND bags in our luggage), they didn't care.

My friend caught this bad boy with a cast net, in a different stream and different part of Panama. It was the only one caught, so we let it go.

By the way, I brought back quite a few of them, they range in size from about 1/2" to the largest at abo 2" or so. They are very active, day and night, eat anything, peaceful and cute!

PS I caught and brought back from Panama several species of livebearers, these catfish, a goby species, cichlids, 2 species of snails, and one small species of shrimp :)

Checked it against my photo collection and my library and, at least from the above photo, can not match it to anything. It has the look of an Amazonian sp. and the next step would be to compare it to the descriptions of Sturisoma brevirostre and S. rostratum .

I've found tank temp can also drastically impact the speed of development for the eggs. What was your tank temperature Barb? It's been just days since we had a picture.... :lol: It's nice to be able to bug someone else for them, they're right! ;)

Are you sure those aren't Sturisomatichthys instead of Sturisoma ?

Of the three species of Sturisoma I have bred, all took 9-11 days to hatch, your eggs seem aweful far along!

Sturisomatichthys however usually hatch in 5-7 days. (I have bred two species of these)

These are a lovely catfish, I had some along time ago. They hid all day long in the potted plants (mostly swordplants), at night when I dropped in frozen bloodworms or live blackworms, the place went crazy! Then, they hid again, although I assume when lights are out, they are quite active.
