New tank !
After saying to myself "I'll get a bigger tank when he needs it", thinking it would be a year or two before it ever happened, I actually did something early for a change and bought a big tank this week :o . It's all very exciting :D .
The tank I bought, off of ebay, is 400 litres (100 gallons)so ...

I have heard of some people "conditioning" their plecos into coming out during the day. How exactly is this done?
My pleco has very recently started coming out in the light in the evening (6, with lights out at 8). He also comes out within half an hour of me puting food out after lights out. Do I ...

would the squid ring and cooked mussel be ok for him? I don't think these would pollute the water.
How do you feed the shrimp and bloodworm? Also, maybe this is being stupid, but would cricket do him any harm? I think they're rich in protein :? ?

My Vampire (again)...the meat eater
When I bought my Vampire at the shop, I was told that he would need a lot of algae...I took this semi-seriously as I already knew that he was omnivorous. I never saw him eat in my tank: I left sweet potato, zuchinni, algae wafers and the only thing out of those that might have been touched is the ...

I agree that beardies are absolutely wonderful pets as far as interaction & general intelligence go, but I'll be very frank about the fact that they are quite expensive & somewhat labor-intensive to care for properly. I only say this because most care info is lacking at best, since even the most ...

Corn snakes vs. bearded dragons
Does anyone here keep corn snakes or bearded dragons? How do they compare as pets? Which is easier to handle, or more interactive and friendly?

Well I don't know what the size or shape of the tank would be yet as we haven't got it but I think the footprint of the tank will be bigger than a Juwel 300.

I thought plecos liked lower tempteratures, with a maximum of 80? Higher temperature doesnt go well with higher oxygen level, the lower the temperature the higher the oxygen concetration. My tank is at 82 at the moment. What is more important right now, the oxygen or the temperature?

Its glowlight tetras, and I don't think my guppies would mind too much as long as the water wasnt too strong: before i aimed the water at the surface it used to point directly into the tank and the guppies would go right up to it, swimming against the current to see how far they could get (or thats ...

How to create currents?
Plecos (or at least some plecos) like currents. How do you create that in your tank? Mine is only a 70 litre with an internal Juwel Compact H filer. I aim it at the surface of the water to create turbulance and bring more oxygen into the water, but how would I go about actually creating currents in ...

Today I bought myself a 5 inch vampire pleco. He looked kind of lethargic and white blotchy (as they do when they're stressed) in the shop and I know you shouldn't buy fish because you're worried about them or feel sorry for them, but I couldn't help it :( .
