does the vacuum effect happen only with the breather bags ?
I was just wondering as I have had some L144 (they were fry)via courier in regular fish bags though, although luckily the bags didnt break but those containing all the non catfish did break and the fish were swimming around in the water ...

I bought 6 of them in November 2005 they were just under 2" including their tails, the hope was to get atleast one pair from the 6.
The 6 were together in a 48x18x15 tank, last night I removed 4 and put them into another tank leaving the pair together.

I recently got this book.
"bristlenoses catfish with character by Kathy Jinkings"
It is the only book I have so far specifically about catfish and it is very interesting book.

I also have Baensch Aquarium Altas there are several volumes
I only have the first 3 so far,they are useful as a reference ...

Pipes that float were found to be "uPVC Polypropylene"
Pipes that sink were found to be "MuPVC ABS".

I've been doing some tests on the pvc pipe.
I used 6" lengths placed in a 12gallon sized bucket which contained 8 gallons of water treated with conditioner as used in the tanks.

Results so far -

21.5mm white contract - floats

22mm white polypipe brand - floats
22mm grey polypipe brand - floats ...

I am wondering how do they get the pipe to sink please ?
as it does not appear to have any holes drilled in the pvc pipe and I cannot see any weight such as some plant lead siliconed onto the pvc pipe ...
